I just noticed this while looking at the IPL for the Husky 61. Besides the typical toothy, bitey felling dog, Husqvarna offered a smooth dog. They call it a felling dog too, but it seems more appropriate for bucking. Has anyone tried one of these?

Looks to be about as useful as a treadmill in Rosie O'Donnell's house.

What I would call a bumper spike to keep the wood away from the front of the saw and prevent paint loss.

I have them on a 268 HVA called the buckngdogs a while back. They do exactly what Guido said and they do work quite well. Some of the older saws had flat muffler faces that dented esilly these things kept that from happening and kept hot exhaust off the log.

Looks like something that would be useful for racing too as guys talk about "getting hung up on the spikes".

I have big "felling" dawgs on my saws even though 90% of my saw use is limbing and bucking. I normally plans the dawgs in and pull up on the handle of the saw.
I use a saw with no dawgs and it was murder on my back after just a few hrs.

West Virginia bumper dawgs? Sort of the opposite of "west coast".
