Well went back to the OPE dealer to get the 361 back, fixed or not. Waited for ten minutes, then talkked to the lady that is on the ball...she looks it up and both were ready, huh both??? The 170 warranty saw i brought in earlier this week. $63 for a fuel line and half hour labor so my $300 estimate wasnt far off for it and the 460.
The 170 wasnt covered under the warranty as it was the muffler screen jammed up with schmutz! He cleaned it up free of charge.
Nice to have the family back together...minus the 020 (thread on such to follow soon)

Yep, figured that muffler screen was plugged. It still may need tweaking, though.

Is that a common problem on those little saws? i didnt fire it up when i got home to give it a test run. Raining. May buck some smalls this weekend to see what happens. I still want to sell it and get a 193/194 rear handle. Lesson learned.

Yep, I mentioned it in your other thread a while ago. I’ve had to burn a few screens on the smaller Stihls.

I typically burn em off, check the piston, then go through the whole fuel system. The carb gaskets are sometimes an issue for saws that sit for a while.

Prescription Mr. Brad for the Ms170:
Tonight you WILL take the 170 to bed. In the morning you WILL hug it.
    You owe it apologies....forgive.
The bill is in the mail.
P.S. There may be a proscribed deletion of your saw group.

I didn't think that saw was that old Brad. Some other problem for the screen to be clogged so soon. Not sure what oil you use in the mix you are running. The shop should have checked the tune on it when they saw the screen. SOP in my book. Put a new plug in too.

Steve got it. Muff filters rarely clog with the right mix.
And, a new plug is a cheap fix.
    Brad will send Steve something.
    Get a different dealer.

Saw bought new in April. 10-15 tanks of gas through it. Silver bottle full synthetic Stihl oil with 91 octane gas. No worries, the saw is going to be history soon.

There is a reason this happens....Most of the positive reviews must have been posted prior to 2017, cause service and parts dept drove me away in January of 17.

    At what ratio?
Just FYI, stock saws don't really need high octane fuel...and don't benefit from it, unless that is the only way you can get E free...

40 to 1. Standard gas, no E free. Use this for all the saws. E free too expensive and im too cheap

If you get the right person to do the port job, a 35-40% decrease in cut times on the same piece of wood, same b/c. Just to tickle your intrest, here's my ported 357 (56.5cc) vs a stock 044 (70.7cc). Just a few ticks behind for such a smaller displacement is the lure. Much lighter saw with the power of a biggun'.

    9.43 sec

Here's another before and after. This one is less revealing because the log became frozen for the after cut.
