Ive been looking a little at maybe finding a good used Husqvarna 372xp for a stumper/fun saw !! I see that Husky made a low top and high top version . I have seen this talked about a little before here and there . Im under the impression that the high top has a bigger/better air filter which is good.......but for regular firewood cutting..is it really necessary ?? I have heard some say that they are bulky and awkward as well . I really like the Dolmar/Makita HD air filter..seems lower profile . Just kinda wanna find out what your guys opinions are .
Me..............I like the low top Husky 372..............but I love the Makita 6400's with the HD filter !!
Weight is also a factor ....in any mod ...to me anyway .

It dont add that much weight...just a few scant ounces, and increases the power.I wouldn't be without the high top HP filter on the 288XPW...
Swapped out the original low one soon after getting the saw 3 years ago.Am still wanting the aluminum velocity stack/foam filter combo for the 2100CD,but sources tell me that the V stack is no longer made & hard to find.Though the foam filter & spray can of tacky oil is readily available though....How strange is that? :headbang:

I have owned several of each. There isnt really any weight noticed. Cutting firewood filter type wont matter IMO. I do like the high top HD myself. But isnt really needed for our uses. Yes I like the looks of the low top and wouldnt kick her out of bed either.

I run them either way myself, but I'll put on whatever 'manly' filter the customer wants.

Both my 757's have that filter setup. The filter and prefilter will set you back more than $40.

Thats the way echo is on that style filter, priced high. I ran mine through the dishwasher to try and keep it going. So far so good.

$38 for this AF below new.

I do like my old Echo CS440. I have always liked the filter they use in some of the Echos. Great "homeowner" saw btw ! Now that the Dolmar is gone... This is my go to saw. Very smooth and comfy :) image.jpg image.jpg

My little echo 3900 has been my go to trim saw around the house. Has a different filter system that is cheaper thank goodness.
I was selling it but after 3 days of straight use I couldnt do it. 39cc and lighter then a 025 but not as strong in cut as 025.

I did sell the better looking one of the 2 to a friend from work though.

I like the high top look better. The low top makes them look more like a 350 or so.
