What kind of winter will we have?

Short?

 

Long.

 

After the type of year we've been having, it wouldn't surprise me if we all get slammed with back to back Alberta Clippers, Noreasters, blizzards and the like. We're due for that sort of thing anyway.

I talked with Loon , he's not sure about winter in our areas but up in his neck of the woods, it will be a tough drive to work.

 

I love winter and have more energy in cold temperatures. The more snow the better. I am hoping for early ice right after deer season and a long season of good ice for spearing and angling through mid-April.

 

Furry, apparently.

I've got enough fire wood to really care what kind of winter it will be.

 

I'm thinking for our area we'll have our share of ice, wanna dance?

I’ve been telling everyone around me that I’m predicting a monster storm this year in New England. Like a 40”-48” monster. They all say I’m nuts. Maybe I am, but I want a real winter again. The last few have been pretty lackluster. Something magical about going out to clear off feet of snow from the lane at night and coming back to sit by a warm wood fire.

 

I live 30 miles West of Albany,NY. We are overdue for a monster snow storm.

 

I suspect we will get a lot of precipitation. It’s been a dry year. It all averages out at some point.

 

If I get a new snowblower ( my old one is a beast to turn around, but it still works) we won't get any snow.

 

As best I can decipher the weatherspeak in both the Farmers Almanac and Noaa predictions, We are in for a fairly standard PNW winter. However...This was an extreme year for pollen (had to clean the gutters numerous times) and also for Fir tree cones and seeds (again, multiple cleanings of the gutters). I have never in close to 40 years, seen so much Fir pollen, cones and seeds. I have a sneaking suspicion that winter here may be worse overall or at least have one or two extreme winter weather events! This, of course, is bolstered by other personal observations like how the fur lays on grey squirrels backs and how far the moles have encroached into the yard! Also, my Wif (who has a smidge of Swift Creek Indian in her), says she feels colder than normal for this time of year and we need to start having fires Right Now! I'm sure this last reason clinches all the "Bad Winter" predictions.
