Big catalpa

    We're down in Williamsburg Va for the weekend. Walked around a bit of the Colonial part last night after supper, glanced at the base and said my what a tree. Looked up and then thought wow. I've never seen a catalpa this big. I'm 6 ft. In the pic it looks like my arms get a decent way around it, but it would take probably 2.5ish of my armspans to wrap. 20201009_191614.jpg 20201009_191713.jpg

    We've got some pretty big ones around here too, they're pretty when they're in bloom in June, but man are they messy.

    As some others have said, I had no idea they grew that large in other areas. That's a big one man.

    I had no idea catalpas got that big either. And my wife was calling me a tree hugger too. Usually when I hug a tree, Im feeling out the lean before the 460 or 660 starts eating.....

    I think most people get fed up with trash and worm poo to hold onto them long.

  9. thats a pretty big ol catalpa i have a neighbor at the beginning of my rd that has one that appears to be 5ft around or so at the baseb
