I built it, or I should say I had someone build it. It’s ~1700sqft ranch. I bought the vf100 new. It is rather large for my house. I only really ran it from feb 2020. I had/have a a hard time keeping my house below 78 degrees when it’s running. [IMG]

Sounds like some low BTU woods are in order for your stacks...although last winter really wasn't much of a test for the VF, so a normal winter might work out better...I was also on low all winter long, doing short loads and wearing shorts too...

I think the biggest issue was loading the fire box full to last all night long so I don’t have to relight in the morning. If I only throw two or three pieces in it won’t be too bad

I know they say 3 splits is the minimum load.
But yes, doing 40# loads (~1/2 full if using ash) twice a day results in almost doing a cold start each time...I keep some very fine kindlin (almost splinters) around for these occasions...find a hot coal or two and its off to the races again...went through a ton of that fine kindlin last year! I was wishing that I had more low BTU wood! (shoulder season wood) I put up a few loads of Box Elder and Tulip Poplar this year so I should be better prepared for a warm or a cold winter now!
I have only ever stuffed the firebox full a few times...really cold days in Jan/Feb...control actually came of off low too...went to medium for 2 days...have never used high!

It's definitely a possibility that I'll try and get it but it's a siren that I'm really after.
