You still have the option of the rat dog. Or this: https://www.critter-repellent.com/chipmunk/chipmunk-repellent?gclid=CMuo8pqPt78CFW4Q7AodqR8A9w

i have a jack russell terrier (female) and a jack russell/min schnauzer (female) that are ruthless hunters. As soon as we let them out they shoot straight for the woodpile (they have a route they take) and they will stay preoccupied for hours. They are unreal killers (rats, rabbits, squirrels anything that moves fast.... they are on it). My wife was given a male registered jack russell that had lived a life of ease inside a house.... he was absolutely worthless for hunting, but would run a ball for hours. I dont know if it is as much about the Male/Female arguement as it is just abou the environment they are raised in. Both my females would much rather be outside.... have to drag them inside.

I don't mind snakes I will stop the big mower and move them out of the way so I don't kill them!

These snakes are supposed to be smarter than that. I thought they could sense vibration and would get out of the area when an object like that were coming into it's territory. How they get chopped up surprises me.

Our Jack Russel that passed away this spring due to cancer would have never let that thing get in the woodpile!! She killed any rodent or snake that dared to step within her patrol grounds. She would literally spend all day at the woodpile disassembling it to get a chipmunk or snake if that's what it took......Man do I miss her

Paul, those rat traps will also work on chipmunks but you have to be very particular with the setting.

I plan to heat my shop this winter so it's gathering time. I've seen 5 feet of snow, a blizzard etc so the weather is crazy at times.:)

How many BTUs are in a snake? That could be a good alternative to wood.

I'm not sure, I told myself no new wood until everything is split and stacked. So far I have (5) 12'x15"x6' wood racks stacked and several piles waiting.:) A new shop(not mine) across the parking lot is starting soon and the power and gas start on the corner of my shop. I'm waiting for the trenching to begin before I stack around that area.:(

If I did my math correctly that's around 3.5 cords.

I can't stand having piles waiting for me. Actually last week or so I gave away just shy of a cord after getting tired of looking at it. Most was shorties and uglies I don't have room for.

I drive past your shop every once in awhile going to lake tangle for work. Glad to see your getting organized.

I have a bunch of shorties/chunks that I haven't figured out what's the best way to stack, kinda wanting to burn off those pieces first this winter? I could build a forkliftable giant bin and store it indoors.:)

I have a pallet with a cylinder of wire mesh attached that stored landscape rock. Works well till you want to retrieve chunks from the bottom. :headbang::mad:
