Ive passed this several times and stopped Saturday to check it out. Cut to 6-10' sections. Knocked and got the okay to take it. Tree was a leaner from recent storms and on state highway so they took it down. Pile of brush with it, luckily minimal limbing and room to work. Parked in her driveway as it was rush hour and busy road. 13" DBH and primo straight wood with no ants or interior rot...or vines! 45 minutes to cut and load. Too nice to pass up. Less than ten minutes from home. Forgot to take roadside pics. 3/4 PU full.
thats a really nice load o cherry u got there and is one of my favorite woods ..... did u pick up a little black locust too
So this weekend you got Hickory on Saturday, Cherry on Saturday, and Black Locust on Sunday??? This is getting out of hand Brad, even for you!!!
Hickory Saturday BL & TOH on Sunday BL on Monday (thanks to you) I had a dry spell on Tuesday. Cherry yesterday. I had intended to get the cherry eventually. Rain ended early and my plans for a rain day changed so why not go hoarding I promise not to hoard any today or tomorrow. No really i do!
No BL in this load. Probably more this weekend. Wouldnt wanna let you guys down now would i? Stay tuned!
Remember the spot where i was pulled over on 17 that Sunday we met up? It was right near there. I havent gone to the heart of where the tornado hit for wood. PS: i never did go back there for that ash. Big logs in a gully. Someone did grab them.
A drive by cherry hoard. Way cool! Wish I had a cherry score or two. I am disappointed Brad. You are going to have to tighten up that schedule. No slacking off on Tuesdays!
I'm trying to catch up to Brad. I was working on the black oak load I jsut got....and then the village public works guys rolled up to vacuum up the storm drain.....and they were like "Yo! Did you get that wood by CVS???" and I was like "What wood????" so I'm going to have to check that out after the kids get out of remote school. Even the DPW guys were like "Yeah just chuck the kids in the back of the truck and get that wood! It's just sitting there in a parking spot!" Pics to follow......
Ohhh nooo!!! You've become "that guy". The guy everyone in town knows as the crazy wood guy!!! The guy everyone says "Kids, don't look him in the eyes. Look down....LOOK DOWN!!! Answer me this. Is this you??? Your kids are half buckled with the sliding door still open and your barreling out of the driveway backwards while sweating thinking if I don't get there soon, somebody else is gonna get it!!! If so, it sounds like you and Bradley got bit by the same bug.
I'll have you know that before becoming the "wood guy" I was known as the "mini guy" as in Mini Coopers.
And yes. I do panic a little if I see wood just sitting somewhere about to be wasted or tossed in the dump!
I did. Before I knew wtf I was doing, I ran out mid winter and bought some cruddy expensive wet wood from the local nursery and just filled the car with it. Here's a pic from 11-13-2014. In my newer 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman Factory JCW S. I have since sold that car. Here I am in Feb-2015 stacking wood into the garage that I purchased (gasp!) from a tree service guy I still talk to. Notice I was ignorant to the holz hausen. As you can see that wood was not seasoned sufficiently. Way too pretty looking! I FOUND THE PICS I WAS LOOKING FOR! This is in my 2006 2-door, 2-seat, 2006 Mini Cooper S GP (special edition, had no back seats so you could put a lot of wood in there!) Look at this crappy wood!
