There were tons of leaves and pine needles down in my neighborhood yesterday morning. If there was strong winds, I slept through them. It was pretty windy all day in Weymouth at my office, and I got blown around on the highway a few times as well.
'Storm' was pretty much a bust here. We did get some 50 mph gusts for about 20 minutes and 30 mph for several hours, but we only got about a tenth of an inch of rain. Sun came out by noon and the afternoon was nice. Blew the pine needles out of the pines that were ready to start dropping needles and maybe some red maple trees are a little nuded. Was hoping for some rain.
More rain would have been nice. Most of the yellow leaves from the black birches, we're blown off. Most maples just turning now.
The heavier snow bands, known as snow squalls, can cause sudden reductions in visibility and a quick, slippery covering of snow on the roadways. These travel hazards will be most likely to occur downwind of the Great Lakes and may impact stretches of interstates 75, 81 and 90.
There's a Noreaster heading our way tonight and tomorrow. Heavy rains and snow. Snow accumulation forecasts are all over the place. From 3in. To 8in, to a foot. We'll just have to see.
And then in the 20's to make everything a nice frozen block! I just moved three mud kitchens from the back yard and put them either under the deck, or in the basement. I'll have to move the rest in the morning in the rain I guess so they arent trapped in the back yard where they cant be finished in time for Christmas. Put the plow on the Bronco too. Yay
I'm on the cusp between the forcasted 6-8" area and the 8-12" area. But it certainly wasn't 50* out yesterday. It was in the low 40's and very little sun so the ground is still cold, although will say not frozen. It will be a wet, heavy mess for our first snow over a dusting.
Well... about 3in of crusty snow. It'll be a messy cleanup. I'll be out playing in the snow once daylight gets here
