More fishing pic's. Hopefully others will post pic's of their catch too!! And share a story about the catch or a fishing report for your area. All in all we had a good day on the water and a fun adventure. The large mouth are still a bit sluggish, But we got a couple of smaller ones. Still aren't on the beds, But they are moving to shallower waters. Hopefully next weekend they get a bit more aggressive and start biting our reaction baits. We are mostly fishing jerk baits which is a blast as you just never know when they bite will come. Here's some pic's from this weekend. My son caught a trophy calico. CT has a catch and release trophy fish program. As long as the fish is a certain length it qualifies. Calico(black crappie) has to be at least 15 inches. His was 15 1/4". So he'll get a pin and a plaque. I got one too, Mine was 14 1/2". Not a trophy, But a nice one!(yep the kid kicked my tail AGAIN!). Joey also got a nice smallie that measure 18". He was a beat up older fella, Looked to have had a tough go of it. So we snapped a quick pic and got him right back in the water.............
Nice pictures, looks like you had a good time! I am finally going to get out on the boat next weekend. My Husband has been in tournaments and hasn't been able to go out for fun with me yet.
Beautiful Crappie,,The rain has kept me out of my favorite waters. The smallies up your way are much darker than ours. I have managed a couple bluegill adventures with success, hoping the waters will be recovered by middle of next week for the smallies.
Yep, We don't eat much of them. We used to keep most of what we caught and all we did was throw most of them out. Better if we throw em back cause they stay fresh that way and don't go to waste. We put a few early season trout in the freezer and toss em on the grille here and there. Only time we eat bass/crappie/pan fish is if we deep hook and don't think they will make it. Even then, our neighbors also love em, But don't fish much. So we give most of those away.
My son had the day off from school. Hmmm, Should I go to work or? Got one!! No wind at all and over cast skies. Got a few decent ones after we fished through the pickerel that were very aggressive today! We had a freekin blast!!!
My boy and I got out again on Memorial day. Surprised there wasn't a herd out on the water. Less than ten boats. Large mouths are still a bit slow. We managed a couple sub 2 pounder's(not worth snappin a pic of. But the Calico's are still active in the shallow's and we whacked a few nice one's.
I'm jealous (not because your kissing a bass) but you're on the water catching lunkers! My time will come tomorrow morning....... great pics!
Post up some pic's of your trip, Please. We are heading out tomorrow too. We try to get on the lake at least once a week. More once my son is out of school.
Well, unfortunately our dog is having fainting spells this morning which means we gotta hang here. He accidently missed his dose of meds last evening. This sucks...... but man's best friend comes first.
Those are real nice looking crappie- trophy material at least around these parts. My biggest crappie ever, was a 17 1/4 out of a farm pond. Crappie is one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite game fish. Shamefully enough, I haven't even cast my first line this year.... I am going to try and fix that later on in the week.
Weather has been very nice so far. The best part is were putting fish in the boat. Even the slowish days we've done rather well.
Nice! If your catching fish on a slow day, life is good! Heck, if your catching no fish on the lake its a good day. A bad day on the water is better than a good day anywhere else! Nice fish!
You arent messing around. ! Beautiful Crappie... And Bass ! Been doing quite a bit of panfishing up my way. Got me a new ultralite setup...... Makes a baby bluegill feel like a Walleye !! Great pics... Keep em comin !
