My brother-in-law didn't make the drive up to Carlisle Pennsylvania. Therefore, my tractor parts are still in New Jersey. I guess it is back to waiting on Fasternal to resume shipping. Or, if anyone is travelling from the New Jersey area and wants to make some money to offset the cost of their trip, drop me a PM.

    Yes, they are :(
My friend that is holding the parts mentioned coming down to his Ferrum Va property for several years now and I have given up on that happening; last month he indicated that he was coming down but that he would have no room to bring my parts down. I had contacted Fasternal early in the year to see about getting them shipped down and they had suspended shipping; outside of supplying their locations of course, due to Covid-19. It may be next year before Fasternal resumes shipping. I started to rent a car and drive up back in the summer but talked myself out of it; I wish I had done so but I worry about such a long trip on my own. My old '98 transport would break down out in the middle of nowhere on me. With the steep hills here, I need the tractor and my intentions was to work putting it back together this winter. I can't even properly plough my garden.

Anyone know of an alternative to Fasternal for shipping heavy parts? The parts would need to be trucked.

The issue with UPS and Federal Express is probably the size and weight of this thing. It is the centre housing and differential. I did look at uship and that didn't work out. I will look at upack.

What's the weight? Size? They both have large trucks. Tractor trailers in fact.

The centre housing is around 118 lbs and I would guess the diffy is around 60 lbs maybe; I could lift the differential but it was heavy. The problem with uship was the cost. I think with fasternal it would be around $125.00.

So Fastenal runs roughly half the cost of standard truck shipping...that means you have lost the use of your tractor for the last year or more over ~$125! :picard:

Hoping for someone to make a special trip and deliver this for free is my guess.

Apparently Kimberly does not need this tractor up and running! Can't believe this fella in NJ has the only parts that will fix this machine!

History: the parts were free; gifted to me by a tractor guy that lives in NJ. My friend drove and got the parts because he has a holiday home in Ferrum Va; which is fairly close to me. He was planning on coming down but uh "an event" got in the way. You may have an idea what that event was since half of the country went crazy over it. I should have went ahead and rented the car and drove up but I have this issue of being scared when it comes to such things. My plan is to spend the night and come back the next day. Friend keeps talking about coming down but then continues to not come down. No one wants to just drive up to NJ with me and spend the night, and they don't want to drive 16 to 20 hours either. So, if Fasternal will open back up, I will get them to ship.

As I said, and you can contact them if you like, Fasternal suspended shipping due to Covid-19. Let me find the bleeding email and post it.

Effective immediately, all Blue Lane Freight Services have been suspended until further notice. No end date to this restriction has been given as of today.

Fastenal Stores will no longer be able to accept new shipments, and no new freight quotes will be issued at this time. This is a corporate restriction and there are no exceptions to this rule.

    Thank you,

I didn't post this to start a bashing sessions. Someone had asked about the parts and I just wanted to let them know that my BIL did not go up to Penn. to whatever swap meet was held. I am sure that Fasternal will resume shipping. It may not be until next year though.

I know they are not shipping...I meant for $250 at another company you could have had your parts...that's $125 more...no bashing, just pointing out. (price "all in", pretty reasonable, since the normally expensive parts were free)

Holy cow! Still wondering what to do or how to get those parts shipped from ....... how long ago now? :picard:

I had posted (on former requests for help) that if OP had saved a mere pittance weekly or monthly, the parts would have been shipped long before the covid issue arose.

I think maybe tree killer hit the nail on the head as well as eatonpcat. :handshake:
