None. When engineer calculated what I would need it was three 12” deep LVLs. So I asked her what the next size up was. She said 14”. I said let’s go with 14”. I always build extra strong. I still have 6-10” clearance under the beam. I don’t know anyone who will be in my basement that tall! Thanks.

    16. He is bigger than I am now. And eats more. And I eat well! And I went out and bought an upright freezer so we can buy things on sale and keep them stocked up. I get to workout with him sometimes. And I enjoy it.

Dad decided he needed another wood shed. He's not so good on ladders anymore so I framed the roof system for him today. It is 8x40.....right next to his other 8x40....both are full and he still has some outside the sheds. That man has a lot of firewood and still gets it done at 75 years old.

Small road trip tomorrow to work in a building I haven't been to in a while. Training some engineers so I don't have to be onsite for the holiday madness in November.

No progress on the bathroom today, but I did get the vanity cabinets installed and plumbing ready for the sink yesterday. Still have to do a tiny bit of work for the drain, but am waiting until the granite guys install the sink.

Another 80 degree day. A little warmer than forecast again. Supposed to get 0.15" of rain tonight. The last time it rained was September 04 and we got about a tenth of an inch, if that.

Its supposed to be 80 degrees again here today as well. I think that makes day #4. As with the past two, its starting off crazy humid, but at least we're not fogged in again. Over the weekend it took until mid afternoon for the humidity to burn off.

Its going to be a long week. My boss' want me in the home office 3-4 times a week now to oversee operations. Thats a 2.25-2.5 hour round trip every day, and then things are picking up again with the wifes mud kitchen business, so its a race home and work until dark every night thing. I need to hang some lights under my tent out there.

Back to commuting? Say it isn't so! At least traffic is lighter than it used to be.

    Rant Alert

Tenant just called he wants to take a pump sprayer and apply diesel to the cedar wood around the base of the apartment building. There’s cedar wood chips around the flowerbeds. He wants to buy diesel so that the weeds don’t grow. Did I mention that three out of four units of this building smoke?I said aww NO that is beyond dumb!!

Diesel is actually pretty effective as a weed killer and it has a rather high ignition point so smoking really isn't an issue with it. But jeezo the fumes will overwhelm anyone living in that house. Like moving into a truck stop. Not a good idea.

I worked Friday through Sunday. A guy I worked with Friday got up out of bed Sunday morning and collapsed. His wife and son got him to the Hospital who then treated and transported him to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. He had a massive stroke and is in bad shape. :( Born and raised here. He is just a year or two older than I, so at 53 or 54. He and his wife have three boys. All early to mid 20s. Prayers for the Putman family would be appreciated.

It sucks! I havent had a job where I needed to be someplace every day in well over 20 years. And you're right, traffic being light definitely helps. It just doesnt seem right when I look down at the speedometer and see the fast lane on 93S is moving along at nearly 80 as we go through Medford at 8:30 on a Monday morning!
