Does anyone here do chainsaw carving? I’ve never seen any thing about it. So let’s see some pictures of some that you have seen or made. I’ll start with these pics of a place in Keystone, South Dakota that I stopped by last week on a black hills South Dakota vacation. That’s my wife and I in the giant red white and blue rocking chair.
I'm in the process of chainsaw carving 30-40 pumpkins for a local crafter show as we speak.... Some of the ones I've carved in the past......
I really liked the little chainsaw owls in Sandhillbilly pictures. A little envious of the pumpkins on Scotty Overkill porch.
I started a bearded "old man winter" face in a cedar log a few years back. I can't remember if I cut it up or put it in storage when we moved. Now, having the MS170, I could do some more with it.
I was the recipient of an awesome piece of chainsaw art yesterday evening. A friend of a friend carved fourteen of these (each from single pieces of wood) and delivered thirteen of them around the country to the families of the thirteen servicemembers who were lost in the 26 August Afghanistan bombing. I was given the fourteenth one and was both humbled and honored.
There is a big carving show, "Chaptacular" about 40 miles from us in early November. We went in 2018. Only 45 of the top artist in the US are invited. The event raises $$ for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The artists have a big auction on Sunday for this... My hunny and I in the big chair So of the different artists and their work... This lady was a local.... More carvings They also had a carve off, 4 artist had to do 4 carvings of the same subjects. This was probably the coolest thing there. They built a tree house to auction off... Different artists carved each leg They had folks from all over.... And the young lady carving in the carve off above was from Minnesota. Hope we can go next year
That looks like a really cool event, I would definitely go if I was in the area. I think I like the angry grizzly the best.
I don’t carve but, while I worked full time at the bike shop, Paul was a regular for service. He stopped in a time or 2 with carvings in the back of his truck. All these are from instagram if you’re on there, lots more pics.
Woodwidow, just an FYI, you can get one of those owls for $125. I emailed the folks when I saw this thread and they just responded....
Thanks. US funds plus shipping would make it a little out of reach for me but thanks for the information.
