Drove by this last week. Abandoned black locust sitting in parking lot of an abandoned building...WOW!!! Came back the same way and stopped to check it out. Tornado blowover cut from rootball. Road crew doing work right there and using it as a staging area for gravel, equipment etc. Planned for this morning as all nearby businesses closed. Fourth, and not the last, time ive scrounged BL on this street. It was strange cutting a "yard like" BL in a parking lot. No complaints! No vines or tangles i usually have to contend with. Im cutting and a guy next door working with a JD tractor stops and asks if i wanted more wood. He has 30 trees down in his yard and doesnt want the wood. Tornado victim. I asked and all oaks. I have his card so a future option to check it out. He offered to move the trunk but it was an easy roller for me. Tornado went right through the area. Oak with snapped off limbs next door to where i was working. Hope they had this porta potty locked down in case brenndatomu was in the area! Good load. At least half cord. Threw the smalls in first and wasnt sure it would all fit. There is another BL down in back of the building but doubt ill get it.
I'm looking forward to felling a tree on a Sunday morning so I can title the thread "Sunday Morning Coming Down" (a little tip of the hat to Johnny Cash) As always, great Locust score!
Nah...that one is all yours...it doesn't have the right base for my system...plus I have access to more porta-potty-pallets than I can use most likely...you might be able to rig that door up with some sort of pay lock apparatus and be able use it for a firewood vending machine though!

If it wasnt on the buses yes i would. I did check it good and not that tough to get it out of there. Im wondering if property owners even know its there. Maybe a future Sunday morning. If it wasnt BL then id wouldnt bother.

I couldve...trust me! I threw all the skinnies in first, looked at all the rounds and realized it probably wouldnt fit if loose thrown. They were quartering nicely being fresh cut. Save my back and pack em tighter. Splitting like cake too. Day trip yesterday and got in after supper, still daylight and i went out to split. Had to get my fix!
