34 & frost here this morning. Pepper plants did fine, but there was a lot of white on the roofs & cars. It's coming! Perfect day out, 60 & sun.
I'm hoping we have a month left here. I'm still trying to keep plants outdoors hydrated. The weather isn't helping:
first serious fire at 44 F this morning at zero dark hundred. She was still asleep. Made coffee, read yesterday's WSJ. Shoulder time has begun boys and girls.
Got chilly last night , It was 40 at midnight so I let up a small fire, It ended up going down to 30 daytime temps back up in the 70s this coming week
Gorgeous Fall day here with highs in the low 60's. Started the pit and made coals from some locust cookies for grilling some burgers. Bark, nuggets and hardwood in the pit. Checked the temp and 55*
Good Morning ya'll, 32* here now with light frost. No plans to light the stove for a while as the hearth is crowded with Pumpkins and camp supplies. Mrs. Mt. Man will be processing veggies for winter storage today as well as baking on the propane cook stove today, so there will be plenty of heat. Even though we really do not need any as the house is not in need of heating.
43* now 37* overnight Ash for the second morning and fire of the season. Have a bunch of silver maple not seasoned yet. From what I've learned here it would be really good at these temps
"We're all burning wood like it grows on trees" NH Mtn Man. Some bright bulb here actually said that " firewood and lumber are wood". Believe it.
Been in the 30s and 40s mornings the last week. Couple frosty mornings. 50-60 days. Layer of hardwood mill waste and spruce rounds on top in the boiler. Good combo for these temps
It did drop down to 27 thu overnight for us here. And I'm thinking there were some places that were colder than that along the way....
