I’ve had a real large tarp covering one side and most of another since I put this together. I have the metal to do sides, I just don’t have the experience to throw it up. Hopefully that changes this week.
Finally got around to putting some metal up. It ain’t perfect but it’s good enough for who it’s for! Lol. Tomorrow we (my dad and I) will be framing out the door side and hopefully starting on the doors. I don’t think I have enough metal to cover them so they might end up wood of some type. More pics to follow...
Oh, I thought it was done when the roof went on! Put sides on it and I'd be tempted to park the truck in there
Right! I thought real hard on doors big enough for that. Decided to do 2 three footers. I plan on using the old shelter logic frame and a tarp for an additional car-port for my sons Acura this winter.
Got the door opening framed out and covered. Just need doors and corner pieces. I plan to possibly use some “scrap” pieces of the same metal and have someone bend it to 90’s for me. I have enough to do that, but not enough to cover the doors so they will be ??..” I intentionally left those 2x6’s stick out to hang something from. Maybe wind chimes, plants, etc. The basketball hoop will be cut off and the post repurposed to a light pole.
Yep. That’s some oak I milled and wanted to get it under a roof. It’s been there for a while. Now it’s in the way! Plan is to take this metal rack and put it in the lean-to and stack it on there.
That looks like a nice area also. Like the rack idea. You got me thinking about a 8 ft rack im not using.
Bought 2 4x8 sheets of 3/4 treated plywood and some treated 1x4’s yesterday. Plus a 1lb box of screws and a circular saw blade.. just over $200!! Got both doors built today but only hung one. Total pain in the azz to hang! They came out 79” tall and 3’ wide and pretty darn heavy. A while back I bought 4 hinges but we decided to put 3 on one because of the weight. Oh and I was left with one extra screw in the box. I then decided to utilize the cut-offs and refurb my wood wagon. It’s crude but serves the purpose. I saved my old plastic bed liner for this. I trimmed it about 8” too wide so I could have some go up the sides. Put the block on it to help it relax in the position. Couple strategically placed screws should keep it in place. I’ll stop on the way home tomorrow and get more hinges and a latch of some type.
Them doors will look good. I bet they are hard to hang by yourself. They cost more than I would think also. Great use of your leftover wood.
No way I could have done it solo. My dad came over to help. If I had to guess I’d say each door was at least 75lbs. $50 a sheet for the plywood!
Building materials are stupid expensive right now. $10 for an 8’ white 2x6, $22 for a sheet of 1/2” osb. Damm hurricanes
That looks great! Yeah, lumber prices are Stoopid right now. That trailer will work great, and that bed liner will clean out really nice and easy.
