Not a tremendous amount of rain here. Wind has been bothersome and blew us off the lake today...

 

Good afternoon all. About 62 and hazy with the smoke from the fire. Was talking to my sons girlfriend today. She said she seen an article stating that smoke is so bad that it is not only here in the east coast but now starting to effect Europe.

Good morning.

It is 25f inland from the Lake Superior at this hour.

Our youngest boy is up there now with some buddies. He is leading 5 other guys in the BWCA for fishing, and then spending few days back at the cabin for some grouse hunting. It was great to see him organize everything, go over maps, and be so enthusiastic. This is his first time independently leading a trip in. It feels to me that this is his own rite of passage to an outdoor lifestyle as an adult.

We taught our children to set up a comfortable base camp just inside the park this time of year, bring in a lot of good food, get a good supply of firewood put up right away, and take day trips for fishing. My wife and I did it with them since our youngest was 5, and now he is introducing the boundary waters to friends, some of whom never had the opportunity as a child.

I miss being there, but even more than that, feel satisfied that our three children have the desire and skills to enjoy a wide variety of field sports for the rest of their lives.

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a FABULOUS FRIDAY. We made it to Wilkesboro NC yesterday evening. Guess we will check out Boone and Blowing Rock today, might find some more apples...found an orchard on the way down the grows Asian pears, never had one before, they are so good.

Morning all. The LAST day of work - officially anyway. I probably will be answering lots of phone calls about how I do things.
Special treat is our oldest daughter is coming for a visit this weekend.

Picked up steak subs and met Chaz for lunch yesterday. Enjoyed that.
Today it is about 52 with cloudy skies. Most of the haze is gone.

Not too much that fell out the bottom of the stack. More than I expected, however. I"ll chalk that up to an extended shoulder season, and burning some yellow poplar that had an oily stink to it, when being burned.

All set for the season. Supposed to be a cool night, tonight. Probably have a small fire in the morning.

 

It was a crazy day and I left late. Hard to pack up and clean out the desk for the new person when everything that I had organized got changed around. Had to stop and read old stuff before it went in the shredder as well. Found a few things I had forgotten about. An emotional day for sure.

I'll be bringing more wood up to the deck this morning. It's chunkie/shorty burning season!

Say an extra prayer for the country today. It's going to be needed.

Good morning everyone! 39° here, I think I'll start a crap wood fire myself! It will motivate me to do some work in the basement. I have to get set up for moving the houseplants inside, before it frosts. We got some new LED plant lights to replace the old florescent shop lites.
Happy retirement Woodwidow! You have served long enough, and now is your me time! You will find lots to do, just remember to cut campinspecter some slack!

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a SUPER SATURDAY. We're still in Wilkesboro, NC. We went to a good BBQ place last night and met my FB friend, Brandon, his wife and daughter, nice folks. Going over to his place this morning, gonna help him cut up some big wood. He's gonna get a chance to run our XS362 and MS461. I took the powerheads out of the truck last night. He went to giggling when he held them, telling his wife, "I get to run this tomorrow"...lol...he might get CAD.
Hope to get him on FHC.
