Early season archery started here last weekend. It's "Earn a Buck" and I missed a doe @ 25yds. She ducked under the arrow. Starting this season off like last year, with a miss lol.

Im heading back out Sunday. Cooler temps are coming in tomorrow and Sunday so that should get them moving a bit.

Good luck to everyone this season!

They are very small, the male was around 33lbs the female around 22lbs (weight is with head and allready gutted).
Really big bucks can be upto 50lbs but not around where i hunt.
From farther away they look quite big must be those long legs i reckon.
I got 4 of them since 1st of may, they are open until end of january.
Each year its around 1million of them ending up in the kitchen nationwide.

And yes youre right, young ones are the best for eating!

I wish good luck or like we say Waidmannsheil!

Wow... stihl sawing .... I bet that was fun resetting the deer stand up.... Did you set up some guide wires to keep it in position this time? Nice views too!

I have a big screw in anchor in the ground on the middle of the inside with 3/16 cable going to all four corners. a turnbuckle to tighten it all down. it has always had that but since they clearcut my woods it gets more wind. the cable i had on it was 1.8 and it broke from old age i guess. i also drove a fence post in the ground by each leg and then wrapped cable around the leg of the stand and fence post and tightened it with a turnbuckle.

Our modern firearms season opener is tomorrow, Oct 17. I harvested something today from our big tower stand. 0821201924_HDR.jpg Had 3 of these with the residents at home. I got lucky, only 1 tingled the end of my nose. 1016201407.jpg 1016201407_HDR.jpg 1016201706.jpg Big red wasp.

Killed two does so far. Have a few good bucks I've got my eye on but planning on putting a few more does in the freezer as the season goes on.
