Playing with the grandkids on the living room floor tonight and the rug felt damp. Went to check weather app and low of 38 for tonight. Yup ,,,,, grabbed the waste paper bin , headed out to shop,,, popped
The bucket off the boiler stack and fired her up. Prolly the earliest first fire I’ve ever had.

Anybody ever mess with refilling printer ink cartridges? I'm sick of the outrageous prices for new ones for our Canon TS3122 (PG-245XL and CL-246XL cartridges) thinking of trying an el-cheapo refill ink kit, or just converting to the refillable cartridges...any pointers/advice?

It's been a while, but I did it a few times. Results were...... ok. Never seemed to fill them up so you'd feel like you ran out of ink quicker.

The refill "conversion kits" have you remove the sponge inside so that they will hold more ink than originally...

If I remember correctly, mine had a nozzle that depressed a spring loaded ball on the cartridge and was difficult to use. It was quite a while ago.

I like it. Do you need snow tires for it?

I've never bothered to attempt it. I've heard of so so results. Granted, it may really depend on who is attempting to refill them.

I would have ink all over the place if I tried that. Fortunately I don't print much, so cartridges last a long time. Sure, the refills are expensive, but better than having that stuff soak into my clothes, the hardwood flor, my desk, the walls, the ceilings etc. Seriously - I would have it all over :emb:

I used too I’m cheap BUT re-manufactured seem more reliable for about 1/2 cost of new

Well that is not new. I don't remember the last time I watched that foolish team.

Before the days of chipped cartridges, non-OEM ink worked fairly well. Was glad for this as my first PC was when the little one was three and I thought coloring on the computer was a great idea. MacPaint (or whatever the progam was) kept her busy and entertained for hours. Until her older cousins taught her how to print. She loved blue skies. Blue skies were expensive.

Now I have laser printers and pay someone else to refill the HP b&w cartridge.

Super hazy here today, can finally see the sun peeking through the smoke. Grateful it's not stinky like standing over a campfire like many times before when it's this thick. I'm wondering if it's from the west coast instead of the fires just south of here since it's not as irritating to nose/throat/eyes. Another weird orange glow instead of the sunset coming through my windows.

When I was selling office supplies many "refilled" cartidges did not contain the correct computer chip for a printer to recognize it, maybe that has changed, but FYI if you look into them, make sure they have the correct copper strip/computer chip thingy on the head. I never refilled an OEM tank personally, some brands sell extra large tanks that last longer. Also big box office supply stores used to offer $$ credits for turning in empty cartridges. Let us know what you do!
