Can anyone tell me what these trees are? Google images lead me to believe it's locust. I can take other pics if necessary. Personally I consider it an invasive species that needs eradicated. I spent 70% of my time in the woods clearing out these useless thorny PITA It's also how the saw got pulled into my thigh. Personally I wanted to be this guy..
Does not look like Locust. Bark and leaves are totally different. I believe it is Hawthorn, but it could be Crab Apple as well. Either way its great firewood!!!
Thigh is perfectly fine.. Thank you Edit.. Guess I shoulda added this here as well.. Thanks to the great PPE advice I've received here. Those chaps are approximately 1-2 yrs old. Never used anything prior aside from earplugs and sometimes safety glasses.
I cannot like this enough! (The fact that you are a chap convert and they saved you from being cut, or worse). I am a HUGE advocate of chaps. Amazing how fast that little incident can happen isn't it?? And happy to hear you're ordering another pair, instead of trying to stich those up or the ol duck tape treatment.

Yes.. was clearing clutter with an inappropriate tool.. ie.. chainsaw rather than loppers (left at the house).. and had a small branch grab and pull the saw into the leg. Chaps did their job quite nicely, and I'm all good this evening.
As to the first post, it looks like buckthorn to me... Usually a shrub, but can be a smallish tree. Very invasive... Glad you are ok...

Too small for firewood, too many thorns, and a crap-ton of small branches Unsure.. perhaps I'll look to get better pics.. and can certainly show some end cuts. Thanks for all the well wishes.. No.. It only cut through the outer layer and the first level of padding. Didn't cut into the secondary weave, that may be Kevlar?? Lots of orange fibers and fluff on the chain that I removed by hand. Edit.. Even as light as the contact was, my jeans would've offered no protection.
