Looks like we'll hit 60 as it is now 59 and cloudy. So far the rain is staying to our north.

Chaz started out doing some splitting. 70s and clear blue skies with no wind. The humidity was up and by the time I got up there he figured it would be to humid for me to get much work done stacking.
After a short rest he decided on a change of plan. He grabbed his ppe and saw and he headed up on the hill to start bucking up some of the dead ash and I believe 2 other trees he and my brother dropped a while back.
Should be better for him as it is in the shade. We want to get as much as we can done as the friend we went half on it with needs it back Sunday to start getting some of his done.
    Have a great day everybody.

Well.. as many of might know, I can be a bit of a twit sometimes.

I have been known to not heed the advice of others, and times that I have taken the advice to heart.

Fortunately today was one of the latter.

Was cutting nuisance thorn brush/trees to clear the work area.

One of the smaller branches snagged and pulled the saw into my leg.

I'd normally have used my loppers for stuff like that, but forgot them at the house.

Edit.. Goes to show also that one should use the proper tool for the task at hand.

I guess it may be hawthorne, not sure, but it's everywhere along the edges of the gas pipeline

Those thorns like to flatten ATV tires also

I been using a chainsaw some on my log pile on the cooler days. Wish I could say I can go at it all day . I stop when I get tired and feel like Im getting sloppy. Thats when I feel I could have a problem. If it can happen to guys like you that have run a saw allot than I guess Id better be real careful.

Well.. I would not put myself in the "regular usage" group.

Personally, I'd rather be working off a stack than clearing a work area in the woods.

I love our property, and spend a lot of time in the woods, but I can process much more, more productively on a stack/landing.

Clearing the area and delimbing takes up a great deal of time.

Today, I used the wrong tool for the task at hand, because I didn't want to make a trip back for the loppers.

Fortunately I have become safety aware, that saved me today.

I've learned a valuable lesson as well, never take for granted that you have all of your tools, without physically seeing or touching them.

The loppers are in the back of the quad 98% of the time, but I took them out a few days ago, and didn't return them.

Speaking of which.. excuse me while I correct that situation as well.

    BTW... New chaps on order

Extremely true. You're very smart to be conservative. Most accidents often occur after someone is tired, and not at their peak.
