Great job buZZsaw BRAD ! Love the use of all the reclaimed materials and the discounted cull lumber. I have a shed similar style and construction and also 4 ft deep but at only 12 ft long it holds just under 2 cords when stacked At 5 ft. I also used a block foundation.... also on soft ground. I dug out the footings and filled with tamped gravel under the blocks. I think I even poured in a little quickcrete. At regular lumber pricing I spent a small fortune building that thing! Much better approach on your build.
I think i remember seeing pics of it. Was it you who posted a thread about it? I see so much on here i kinda forget whos is who? My mother was good for repurposing, finding bargains etc. I get it from her.
Hadnt updated this thread. Snapped a pic of the shed almost filled with wood. I helped him load part of the center bay back in the Winter and he has been slowly filling it himself. My new storage area at his house is in his back woods and drove through the backyard. Stopped to admire it. Finished size is 4'x 36' x 5' (floor to ceiling). Checked and seems to be minimal settling. Was one of my concerns as water table is very high there. Maybe $75 out of my pocket.
That is some quality craftsmanship. The fact that you were able to do it with 75$ out of pocket is incredible.
Very nice. I have been saving money to build a lean-to beside the shed; main goal will be that it will be storage for the green wood to dry out of the weather.
IKR! I just bought 2x4’s and fir strips(purlins for metal walls) and spent $375! It’s $6 for an 8’ 2x4.
Steel has also shot up in price. These prices have killed my fall project ideas!!! Great job on the woodshed Brad. Looks awesome!!!
BILL I DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS, BUT WOULD IT KILL YOU TO SAY SOMETHING POSITIVE IN ONE OF MY THREADS?
That looks like you have unmilled tree posts at the right side. I was thinking that I have some standing dead locust that I could cut for posts and help offset the costs of buying pressure treated posts. I want to build a lean-to beside the shed; stacks with tarps collect water and then I have mosquitoes breeding like mad if I don't remember to drain the tarps.
