I still have a whole log of it so i will investigate further. I definitely know what your saying about the sap being gone in old wood. It does have a strong color to it though
The reddish color is pretty common in pine. The bark is what’s giving me the pine vibe also you stated that it split easy cherry for me isn’t an easy splitting wood. Generally the bark is more “shaggy” on larger diameter cherry. Pine: Cherry: In the end it really doesn’t matter what species of wood I think it is. We both know it’s firewood!
I hit it with a maul, when i get it on the splitter we’ll see. It also didnt cut like butter and its heavy. You know where im cutting it, right at Poor Farm in Townsend. Mrs Larson is a customer of mine and my Dad and I were customers of theirs f0r years. Before her husband got sick, he hauled a bunch of wood 5 years ago next to the building so i offered to clean up a little over there.
Nice of you to help out. I have driven by the poor farm pretty much every week day for almost 20 years. It’s changed a lot.
It is in the smaller side but not really around here. Has a super market several restaurants a car dealership. The town that Woodwhore lives in is a small town!
The only thing we have is parkers maple barn and pickity place. New Ipswich market subs are awesome!!!
I grew up in a suburb of Cleveland, OH. The suburb had 70.000 people. So I guess small town is relative.
Hey, when you check moisture content during these months, do you still bring the wood inside to acclimate? Whats the most accurate this time of year?
The first job I had that issued a pay check was clearing tables at Parker’s. I haven’t been in the market in years but several people have said their subs are good I’ll have try them sometime.
