    Pretty much describes me. I don't even like to turn a little orange screwdriver. But I still find all the "other stuff" interesting.

    My first new saw was a Husqvarna 350...which I still have . Think that was like over 15 years ago now . Anyway....I used it to clear lots ....sell and use firewood . Just did all the maint. on it over the years . Blew everything out with compressed air and wiped it down every day of use . Thing still runs great after a lot of hard hours of "learning" use !!! Then about a year ago I found out it was a "clamshell" saw........and I thought.....for as much as people trash the "clamshell" saws......how did mine last so long through hard use ? Clamshells arent as durable I hear . Pure ignorance on my part I guess !! I miss those days :)

    Havent a clue here on chainsaws, I just like voting :handshake:.

    The last run of 365 372 I did and some that wasnt finished yet in part stages. All were finished and sold and went on to new projects. Went with the poulan series next 415 425 445 475 505 till I had them all. Then started selling them very slowly, 1 of the 505 was first to go.

    I have a stihl 390 and have run it pretty hard for 10 years. Few minor things like rope , fuel line and docomo valve and a few chains in that time. Overheated the bar a bit when I first started learning g to file but got pretty good. And I rarely blow my saws off? Pretty good work for me and is in semi retirement now...was my first saw as well. Heavy for what it is though

    Looks to be a 'two horse' race at the present time, but we have got until Sunday to wait.

    I would think the xpw top end would be the winner. I know lots of people want the ported top end since that would be added cost for those that don't do their own port work.

    Agreed, however there are lots of folks that don't do their own. When TL was/is selling these pre ported kits he was asking around $400.00 for the kit using new Meteor C/P kit. Charging that would run the cost of the saw up so high that it would remove it from someone's affordability list. So to keep everything on a par across choices what I did was figure the TL ported top end/DP muffler at the same cost as the OEM P/C kits @$230.00. I thought that way if someone wanted the ported jug they would not have to pay through the nose for it.

    He still sells those kits..was on his website a few weeks ago and saw them

    You remember what he was getting for them? I don't want to over charge, I bought the one I have about a year or so ago.

    I didnt go as far as looking at applications or pricing but I think your in the ballpark? Ill go look sometime today. If someone do set beat me to it.

    I looked it up, it appears there are two prices, if you send him your cylinder or you want him to use an AM jug. Which is what I did.

    Thats right you can send him yours..I dont think you necessarily get yours back unless you specify that.. like a core maybe???? I dont remember though?

    So whats the price?

    'Core Charge' you are right I do remember that, all I had was a new OEM 372XP C/P kit and I did not want to loose it so I opted for him to supply a new AM kit. Looked on his site but could not find a price. When I purchased the one I have from him it was a phone order, so perhaps you have to call. Found a cost for woods port, you send your complete saw, so I guess the kit would be $275.00 plus the cost of the AM P/C kit and muffler.:

    I very much appreciate what you are doing here - my previous comments are mostly in jest as we are, after all, a bunch of guys & gals trying to heat our houses with wood(or make massive piles of it) - and I've been doing it with a Stihl 041(non-AV) that's older than I am. Tinkering and such is in my blood, been tearing apart stuff since I was kid, now I just attempt to be smarter than multi-million dollar gas turbines, computer logic and such. I still fix all kinds of stuff but really don't have time to modify anything....if I didn't screw around on here when I'm already beat possibly. Before I became a homeowner there was always time to build a hopped up 383 stroker or a bullet proof off road rig - and pizz my money away doing so
