stacking area is tidied up and ready to go.....

    ....now to let the fun begin! This is the area of my stacks that I burned off last season, I have added around 2-3 cord extra capacity to this area by cleaning up a bunch of old siding /railroad ties, removing overgrown honeysuckle and briars, etc......it was a mess. I had planned on starting my new shed in this area this summer but just too much on the plate to do it, so it will be stacks until I get time down the road. The new skids I got are heavy duty and much bigger than standard skids, the area I'll be stacking in will be around 12'W X 24'L X 6'H when it's all said and done. I've got around 12-14 cord of oak/sugar maple split and ready to stack!

    Lol woodwidow! Yes this will be another cube built onto the large one I have already, this is where I had last seasons' wood stacked.....it was in major need n of maintenance, as that wood was stacked here for the last 3 1/2 years. The wood i will be stacking here will be for 2017-18....

    12 x 24 X 6 = 1,728 ÷ 128 = 13.5. So that area should support most of what I have split and ready to stack at the moment, which equates to 2 years' worth of firewood. Almost all of it red and white oak, and sugar maple!

    The beautiful thing is those pallets are FREE , and the place I got them has literally hundreds of them. Mix of poplar and oak, put together with TEK decking screws!! They are around 6'×6'! Pete would be in Heaven!!

    Scott, had you considered doing a shed in stages?
    Maybe sink the posts and get 'em plumbed until you can do some more. It really wouldn't take much time. Mine got spread out over a couple months, but the main structure was up within just a few days.
    And, I work kinda' slow, and was by myself.
    Guess it depends on your soil type too......I've got lots of sand, so fairly easy to sink posts.
    For all the work you did there, you coulda' had a shed 1/2 done.:D
    Anyway, nice job on that.

    PD, I plan on doing it in stages, I'll start this coming spring. Just too much going on right now, I have to get cracking and pour my garage floor in a couple weeks so I want to get a head start on stacking now.....

    I'm sure your area is just fine, honeyfuzz. I just wish I had more land, I have to maximize the use of this little plot I have for stacking to the nth degree.....

    We gotta see a pic of that big pile before you stack it :)

    The work done so far looks great. Nice skids/pallets. And for FREE!! :thumbs: Nice :)

    I wish I could get farther ahead. I've been searching high and low for a place to cut. Being so far out in the boonies, that me scrounging CL isn't very feasible.

    The top picture has grown by around 2 more cord since I took that pic......lol. its all split and ready to stack, now as soon as this stomach bug gets out of my body I'll commence to stacking!

    I got out finally and split and stacked some last weekend but now my attention has to shift to installing an underground dog fence. This new pup gave me a good scare and was too close to some traffic.
