I’ve got bushhoggin, push mowing, weed eating, tree cutting, leaf blowing (**** Poplars!), splitting to do, so if I get the push mowing done I’m calling it a win.

Network cable help? Our new pup chewed the cord from the antenna on the roof. I have the routerboard tilted just so that the chewed cord is semi stright and I'm getting signal, but I have a feeling it will be bumped and go down again (If I'm missing for a day or two I'm waiting for a tech call). Can I buy a crimp tool and a new ethernet tip and cut the chewed part of the cord off?

Usually it's coax from the antenna to the router, then Ethernet cable to appliances.

If it's the eth cable, yes with the proper crimper it's easy to crimp on two ends and use a connector between the segments.

Coax takes a very different crimp tool and ends.

Thanks Chaz:) It is for sure ethernet, like a big telephone line clip, that cable goes to a tiny ~12" dish on my roof that talks to a nearby tower.

Can I use crimp on rj45?

    Yes

If you have a Staples nearby, they should have everything necessary.

You'll have to look at the end to determine wire pinout.

You'll need one of these to join the ends

    Yeah, I can believe it.

I'm pretty sure Wallyworld would have crimpers, and from that link your Ace might as well.

    I'd give each a call.

Crimping RJ45 is pretty easy stuff

You could always go the splice route if necessary. I'd consider this an emergency temp fix personally.

I still feel like I'm in my 20s sometimes. Then I'm around 20 something year olds and it's like nooooo. I'm definitely pushing 36 and seeing more and more gray hairs coming in. It gets a little harder each year to get out of bed in the morning. I suppose there are worse things than aging though.

REALLY?!? I did not know one could splice ethernet, assumed a zillion little wires inside unlike splicing a telephone cord. Fantastic! We live out of town, WWW's was driving my newtome suv and his phone died (no charger in the FJ) so he did not see my texts of what to pick up at ACE, (the ends and the crimp tool). Thanks! Not alot to work with near the rj45 but so worth a try, we are totally dependent on it for tv and internet.

I got everything you need right here. I cut our internet cable off when I put down hardwood flooring a couple years ago in my office. Bought ends and the crimper. Just swing by and you can borrow it.

If you PM me and you have time for the USPS I could probably arrange a package.

Aww, thanks :) No worries, I'll splice it if needed before we can get to town to pick those things up at ACE. Appreciate the generosity!
