I hung a new stand a few weeks ago, in the state woods down the road from my house. Today was the first chance i got to hunt it and tomorrow is the last day in fall bow for that zone. I usually let little guys like this walk but not today. My freezer's runnin low and he was the only deer i saw. Needless to say he's gonna eat good! ;) He's a wide, low 6. I've still got my eyes on a few nice bucks in another zone i hunt. Now i can focus a little more time on them.

Shot him at 10yds and he ran 30 to his final resting place.

Almost forgot the most important part. My beautiful new bride met me halfway down the trail and helped me get him the rest of the way out!

Do you know how old he was? His Grey on the nose makes him look older? That's a good buck in most peoples book. He won't go on the wall. But he will go well in the freezer.

Some people hunt horns, some hunt meat, and some both. I am like yourself. I do both. I am a game hunter and love to eat the animals that I harvest.

Although I would love to get a Monster? They don't eat as well as the little ones as Boog speaks of. The younger ones are much more tender. :)

Hunting and Gathering is being lost in history. To many want Trophies and don't care for the meat anymore.

Good buck to put down.... Congrats

That's pushin it lol. I just asked her if she felt like skinnin it for me and the look i got was priceless! o_O

Dex, He's probably 3yrs old. Im fortunate to have access to some private property around here. The landowner and myself are able to pass on smaller bucks with hopes that in another year or two they'll be wall hangers. BUT, we also take plenty of doe's to keep the population in check and also a small buck from time to time. Hey, you can't eat the horns!

This buck i took on state land right down the road from my house. Basically if you see even a decent buck on state land you'd better take him. Chances are he wouldn't have made it through gun season with the amount of people that hit the woods. I also put alot of blood and sweat into scouting and hanging the stand so it feels good to have meat for the freezer from all the hard work.

    Thanks guys!
