    The crop duster came buzzin over around 6 this mornin so i grabbed the camera and snapped a few pics.

    This one was taken out front. The bog he's spraying is a little over 200yds across and he drops in over a house on the right of the pic.

    Thats pretty cool.

    That means a whole different thing at work driving the forklift through peoples departments after a taco bell lunch. "Crop dusting" :rofl: :lol:

    Sure is pete! That's a whole lotta engine jammed in a little plane.

    Next time the turbo prop comes by i'll try to get a few pics of him. That sucker is FAST! Make's this guy look like he's standing still. :binoculars:

    Today he was spraying the cranberry bogs with either a fertilizer, pesticide or fungicide. Last week the turbo prop was spraying the blueberries with fungicide.

    Great close up shot from last year, I bet the pilot loves his job. Is crop dusting a run for cover (do not breath it in) kinda of time?

    Nah not really unless the wind is blowing in your direction. The fungicides arent that harsh but the pesticides, there's a reason they handle the chemicals with gloves. They only spray in the early am and late evening when the wind is lightest.

    I've never had the pleasure of seeing one in action, but my son has. Says that he watched it for awhile...own personal air show. I'll bet there are some strong qualifications required in able to get a license to be a crop duster! Probably have a whole array of elctronics to help them gauge distances/heights/clearances, no?

    We see them every year around here. They even use them for spraying mosquitoes.

    Years ago when the Ore-Ida potato plant was still in MI, I used to get to watch them spraying the taters but most used helicopters for that. For sure they get a lot lower and also don't need the large turn-around at the ends of the fields.

    One time I was watching a plane on a neighbor's land. It was not spray but ground corn cobs that had chemical in them. Another neighbor stopped where I was and we talked while the guy flew over the field in front of us. When he finished he left and we did too. But I did not know he circled. Just as I got into the car and got it started, he flew over me and dropped some corn cobs on the car. I bet he was laughing all the way home. Sure made a noise in the car!
