Chestnut oak

    I got my first rounds of chestnut oak from the arborist. Its very rare around here, its amazing how much lighter it is than the other oaks. I think it gonna be a fast drier since the ends were cracking already.

    That’s a tree I can’t figure out. It seems there is a huge variation in weight and drying times from tree to tree when it comes to them.

    I have a lot of chestnut oak on my property and burn quite a bit. I like it. White oak family, so dense wood, it seems to dry quicker than red oak and splits easily. It can get punky quick if tree dies and bark stays on though. I think you will like it too.
