You laugh but I've taken 3 snapping turtles, some groundhogs, and a racoon from my living room window this year. I'll be taking dear as well once the season comes around. The only downside is getting the dammed brass out from under the couch.:hair:

Pfffft, I meant to quote Chaz 's post below you. And now that I just read it again I understand, SS is Shoulder Season. What you all consider SS wood is our year round fuel. Sorry

Sure, the law says you can't shoot within 300' of someone else's structure. The law is completely silent on what you can do around your own structures.

might what to carefully read that again- most times they specify a dwelling/ building with no mention of ownership. At my place they have a very strange rule of 600ft for discharge of a powder burner, I say strange cause this is farm country. Course what I have seen and heard over the past couple years is no one pays heed to that. They also have a ban on outdoor wood "boilers" ( snicker ,they messed up as there are outdoor hot air units) county wide- but just about everyone has one that does not live right in some little town- even there I have seen a couple.

Only the deer are considered sporting animals and have a defined season. The other stuff are considered pests and can be culled any time to prevent destruction of property.

In NY it's 500 ft from a dwelling/structure, unless permission is granted.

My neighbors have no issues, so all is good.

I also have given myself permission at my house.

The "proximity to a dwelling" or whatever descriptive language they used.
