...but what does coffee taste like with sour cream in it? Never tried it and i drink at least 3/4 pot daily. Cream or half & half (never milk) and sugar please.

We had a problem with grounds before with our Mr.Coffee but since we went with the Mr.Coffee 12 cup coffee maker with the Mr.Coffee basket 8-12 cup coffee filters, we haven't had a problem.

I use the 8-12 also. Sometimes the cheaper brands/store brands have less pleats. Seems they collapse even easier.

While I admire the ingenuity Tim I too would just skip all the plastic. I'm a pour over guy myself. You'd be surprised at how gooder the coffee is... But that gets complicated if you go past the one cup a day that I typically have.

That is weird (the first part). I don't ever remember that happening with mine. Have you tried different filters? I use store brand recycled paper filters (like $1.50 for 200 at my local grocery store.

OOOH, you know, maybe it has happened. I seem to remembers some of those filters are smaller in diameter than others, or maybe the edges are shorter, and I stay away from those because I didn't like them. I don't remember the actual problem I had with them (I don't need that plastic for the alzheimers :D), but I'll bet that was it.

My father always taught me to wet the filter before putting in the coffee. The water just makes the filter stick to the sides.

Wouldn’t you know yesterday morning I had grounds all in my coffee. Don’t know why, filter didn’t fall down. Had to run it through a mesh strainer before my wife got hers.

    Hmmm (thinking...)
The coffee machine is made entirely of plastic.

Water came out faster than could go through the filter and grounds.
Had that happen a couple weeks ago.

TurboDiesel I have had that happen if I put hot water in the coffee maker. Starting with cold water slows things done and avoids that problem.

If you have a mesh basket that the coffee filter sits it, it may need to be given a gentle washing.
