I've got coffee grounds in my coffee for the last time!
Mr. Coffee has been making coffee machines for EVER! Why hasn't this annoying problem been solved yet?

    Well...now it has. :handshake:

    And for free!

I took a sour cream container and cut the lip off the top then cut about 1 1/4" off the top of the container.

Put the filter in the basket about half way or so and put the plastic ring inside the filter.
    :bug:

    Done.

All those years of building water and sewer plants has finally paid off...
I'm gonna get rich off this idea!:dex:

    ;)

    Sweet idea TurboDiesel nice fix

We've been using a Keurig machine for years now, was given to us and been pretty rock solid. Never had grinds in my coffee except once, we bought cheapo kcups on Amazon and they were awful!

I've had a few grounds and sedment in the bottom of the pot.

I took the thin material basket that the filter sits in, and held it up to the light. I could see where it was blocked at the bottom, with collected fine sentiment. About a third of it looked blocked, towards the bottom.

Using the kitchen scrubber/sponge, I took time to gently wipe down the basket. That thin material is stronger than I thought. I kept holding it up to the light, and worked my way around whereverse there was a dark color, and possible blockage.

There's been no grounds, or sediment since.

If your basket bottom is blocked, watch out for coffee spilling out. The basket might overflow, it can't flow down into the pot, keeping up with the water coming in at the top.

You going to corner the market in sour cream containers?

I don't mind a little grinds. To each his own.

Mine doesn't have the screen/mesh filter. Just a plastic basket with the little Sneak-a-Cup valve to shut the flow off to the cruet when you pull the pot out before it's done.

On a different angle, I go cabin camping with some friends, and I make the morning coffee, on a coleman stove (no electricty). Why me? Cuz I'm always the first one up.

    Technique -

Boil up water in a metal camp coffee pot, that I filled up the day before, because there's no guarantee of my state of mind , from overnight activities.

Once water has boiled, remove from heat and dump in coffee grounds and give it a good stir. Put on a metal trivet, on top of wood stove. Avoids boilover, and keeps coffee hot.

Stir the pot every 5 mins. Let coffee steep for 30mins.

I then pour into a metal, insulated, French press. It also doubles as a thermos.

No grounds, no complaints from others, who are up to the task with ball-busting.

Me either. But this is a once a week event. The filter gets wet and collapses on one side and i get a teaspoon of grounds in the bottom of the plastic basket...and in the pot...
Last week i thought the machine had finished so i pulled the pot out and the valve had been clogged with grounds...until i pilled the pot out, that is...
Then the valve hung open and drained coffee and grounds out onto the heat plate, then of course, on to the counter top under and around the machine base.

When we used to go camping, once the water was boiling we would put the coffee grounds in and let it go for a bit. When we were ready to drink it we would put in a cup of cold water and just put it back on warm heat. My FIL taught me that. I loved that guy.

Any of you break a raw egg into the coffee grounds before putting the grounds into hot water? It is a Norwegian way of making coffee.

It is supposed to help trap the grounds in the bottom of the pot. I remember egg coffee being made at lutefisk suppers.
