Anyone have any experience with them? The 034 was bogging down while cutting today. Chain could use the file, but still throwing good chips. Checked air filter, pretty clogged up, so I blew it off. Still bogging.. even out of the log. Gonna check spark arrestor once muffler cools a bit. Edit.. Spark arrestor is not clogged. Open to suggestions
Went ahead and adjusted hi end on carb 1/4 turn counter clockwise, running fine. I prefer to check other things before adjusting the carb settings. BTW.. pulled plug, it's in good shape. So.. Anyone with knowledge of Sawzilla?
Sorry I can't help as I only use oem stuff. Also just remember the exact position of the screw before you tweak so if it doesn't help you won't crawl down a rabbit hole.
Don’t be scared of adjusting the carb. L controls mixture at idle, H controls mixture at wide open. The screws are there because conditions change. You need to be able to hear it burble a little at wide open with no load, and clean up smooth when you’re cutting. Sawzilla has decent AM parts. Proline is one of the better AM brands
Thx huskihl I'll get some stuff on order then. It's not so much that I'm afraid of dittling with the settings, but I know a guy that will adjust the carb first, without checking anything else. While this will work, I don't think it is the best solution. Clean up or replace the air filter, and you've gotta adjust it back. Saw ran great yesterday, and I have had to clean the air filter before, so I went that route first. Didn't have any real worries about the spark arrestor or plug, but I've not previously checked either of them on this saw. I did have to clean the SA on the Poulan a couple years back.
I might’ve sounded a bit condescending there. Didn’t mean it that way at all. But I agree. Maintenance comes first. I’d try it without the air filter and see if the tune changes much. You can clean out the old one with dish soap and hot water and try it again. Sometimes a used clean oem is better than new AM.
You didn't at all I did not try it without the filter, maybe give that a whirl. It ran great after I tweaked the high end, but I can always adjust it clockwise 1/4 turn and see how it goes. I will wash the filter as well. I did order the tune kit, I'll look closely at the new filters, plug is fairly standard Bosch. Thanks again.
Good. Tune it to where it burbles a little on a quick pizzrev after a long cut and you’ll be good to go.
I did adjust it back and ran with the filter off, right back to bogtown. So it definitely wasn't the filter. I really need to get a tach as well, any advice on a good one?
That AM fuel filter is questionable. Proline is slightly higher end since they appear to check quality control and brand the better AM products. I wouldn’t trust them for certain parts (cylinders, fuel lines, etc.) as there’s a chance that they are just rebranding other AM parts. I always upgrade 1125s to the larger OEM fuel filter. That air filter may be ok but check the seams for a tight seal; some are ok, some aren’t. Is that plug genuine Bosch? I don’t really know what that means these days, so I go NGKBPMR7a. Fast tach / Easy Tach is solid. It’s wireless but sorta expensive. There are quite a few out there that are decent. 034s rarely plug up the muffler outlet. Most bogs are fuel related as you discovered. Check your impulse line and fuel line for cracks while you’re servicing the saw... both are easy fixes if needed.

That’s the one I have had for a few years now (7?). I like it but it isn’t perfect. The display jumps around a bit during use, the battery is replaceable but sometimes falls out of its spring-steel keeper, and it needs to be close to the plug for a proper reading (which is usually fine). Nothing too bad but worth noting to potential buyers. It’s tuned in hundreds of saws.
Don’t discount chitty gas. I just went through a nightmare of maintenance due to contaminated gas. Pulled a quart of water out of filter and bottom of tank on one of my company trucks.Saw, lawnmower , 4 wheeler and weed water too. Pizzedmehoff!
Good point. Customer brought in 2 saws that wouldn’t run right. Bogged just like Chaz said. He accidentally filled his can with E85 instead of rec gas
While I certainly can't completely rule out gas, but what's in the jug I mixed fresh a few months ago when I dropped some trees for a coworker. I only use E-free gas for the saw mix. 4 wheeler and lawn mowers go through it so fast, I just use "normal" E-85, no use in spending the extra $$ One gas jug (5G) has E-Free written on it, the other 5G jug says Eth, and I have very distinct jugs (2.5G) for the splitter and saws. Just found it odd that it ran great Saturday, but acted up on Sunday
