I'd put that option there if both on hand Tim.

Well, I don't have either in stock so will have to order no matter which they choose. So, I'll put both choices up.

A guy from Sandusky brought a 372 he had with a aftermarket US or USA brand full wrap that was sweet. Dont know if it is cheaper then OEM or not.

They sell pro safety stuff. I don't know if the guy that made handles for stihl ever made some for the 372.

Who know my ole memory could be confusing it. Know it was a nice aftermarket full wrap though. Not oem. Felt like thicker grips like I like.

That would be pro safety. They are a little bigger and more comfortable to me also.

Mdavlee, I think you are right, a while back I checked out Madsen's and could find the Pro Safety stuff but did not see any thing for the 372.

I know pro safety made one for it. I know a local to me that has one. He had an accident with the OEM wrap handle.

Thanks Kevin, some of the firewood suppliers I do saws for have some HUGE guys working for them. Guys with hands like tennis rackets, smaller diameter bars are uncomfortable for these guys, I see saws they use come in with big pieces of hydraulic tubing split and taped around the top handle. These pro-safety bars may be a welcome option.

Thats why I liked the half wrap on the 166 and traded my full wrap on the other 166 for another half wrap too. The full wrap was terrible skinny and the half wraps were way thicker on the 166's.

    My votes:
    - Piston/cylinder = #5
    - Carb = ? I am a big dummy here.
    - Air filter = Does the large vs standard make any difference in performance when clean? If not, I like the lower profile.
    - Handle = half wrap. I like a compact saw.

Ps: I think of this thread as broadening my education vs OP making a sale. Teach on.

    Thank you for your kind words. In answer to your questions;

The 064 Stihl piston in the 52mm kit makes quite a powerful saw with higher compression than the standard BBK piston or the stock 50mm setup. Did you put your choice in the poll thread, if not, do so please.

Carburation is a funny thing, if the carb is too large for the case volume then you will not see much difference in performance most likely poorer, they do work well on the BBK with the 064 piston but the only thing that will notice the difference is a stopwatch. Either the 12-B or the RWJ-4 will work on the set of choices I have presented.

The HD setup does not perform any better than the standard but gives you the 'more manly big saw look'! In limbing situations the HD setup is less nimble than the standard IMO.

I agree with you on the half wrap unless you are falling or cutting stumps the full wrap gets in the way IMO.
