WeldrDave Your right BUT its not the banks fault the compliance departments for all regulations is PITA. I would not have advised construction loans, HELOC on hell house to build, NH house far easier.

regardless, up here-ahh. You want the building to be framed, roofed, sided with exterior door and windows before Thanksgiving... Shoot for Thanksgiving but always takes extra week or two because that’s deer season and most construction guys don’t work two weeks before Thanksgiving

then temporary heaters and inside builder finish work, is usually cheaper as companies let go of lesser employees and keep best workers over winter

I have 12 months to build at the signing of the contract with the bank. "That" hasn't happened until final price is agreed to from builder. I will not build over winter. We may get foundation and slabs done but thats about it.

Glad you got that lock in. I used SCU for my truck loan (they were best offer amongst the 10 or so banks the dealership worked with). Never had an issue. I still have a minimal amount in the account I had to open to get the loan (they gave me $5 for starters). Only thing I didn't like was when I paid off the truck, I sent extra because I was trying to account for the interest. They put the leftovers (probably $20) in the account instead of sending me the excess back - as every other bank has done in such a circumstance. That being said, if you plan on using those accounts anyway, that would actually be a bonus for you as it would hit faster than you having to deposit a check.

Wow, I didn't see this thread until today! Looks like you all had a fun working visit. Many familiar faces. Sounds like Dave has a solid time frame for his build. So by the end of next year, he should be relocated. Good for him and his wife. Hope his construction bids come back soon. It takes time for the contractor to put it on a schedule and line up the workers. Seems there is no shortages of jobs for construction workers if they have skills. Looking forward to pictures of the build as they happen.

Whenever I see pictures of GTG's, impromptu otherwise, I get a little bummed that we don't live in the midst of a bunch of FHC members. I'm not the most sociable person but it would be great fun to meet and greet with a bunch of fellow firewood nuts. Somehow seems that out west folks are fewer and further between even in populated areas. It is a matter of frame of mind as well as distance. Well you folks looked to have had a great time and I am envious. Glad all got home safely even though there was a car window casualty. Please keep up with the plethora of pictures so we can keep peaking in on the fun!:salute: to all!

Would be nice to meet you along with more of on the west coast and midwest.
But isn't there enough of you in Washington to have your own GTG?

The members map, shows locations of members in Washington st. There's a few. Probably some distance, as well. Screenshot_2020-08-08-13-42-50.png
