Getting the big diffy back together for the final time now.

New bearings on the journals (First time was a test fit using modified old bearings to check the fit in the case and the backlash of the gears......

Gotta get the band anchors back into the case and connected.....
Still waiting for a couple more bearings to show up.

    The bearings are SPENDY
The one pinion bearing had a list price of over $700 ....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY

Found it on ebay for $24

There is a total of 14 big bearings.
    (1) 6309 Ball
    (1) 1310 Roller
    (2) 6311 Ball
    (8) 6014 Ball
    (2) 5210 Ball
    Plus seals and gaskets......
    This sucker is heavy too.

Not real excited about doing another one of these bad boys anytime soon...
Will be great to see this sucker back in the cat....

Ordered ours back at the beginning of May, they were delivered by beginning of June. Saw an ad for East Coast Lumber in our weekly paper (Carriage Town News) advertising NEWP, Vermont and SNW Doug Fir. Forget what the NEWP were priced at, Vermont were $315/ton ($5 more than I paid at Fallons), SNWDF were $395/ton (same as I paid at Fallons).

Lucked out on a great Craigslist deal in the next town over from me that my son spotted a couple of weeks ago. Emailed the seller within minutes of his post and got 3 tons of NEWP’s for $300.

Normally wouldn't go for NEWP, but at that price, you can't go wrong.

I am of the same sentiment but my 52i has burned every brand I have tried so I’m hoping the ash won’t be too bad.

You wonder when they're young, how long it's going to be before they "grow up", and all of a sudden, you turn around, and BAM....
