We are spending a week at Glacier, Yellowstone, Grand Teton Natl parks. Found a little path on the north side of lake McDonald tonight. Who, if anyone, is allowed to cut the dead falls? Seems like a lot of pretty easy wood on the ground. Non wood pic, just amazing natural beauty. But, the deer are a little ugly:
You have to get a cut permit from the Forest Service, and then you can only cut in "designated cut zones". And burned firewood is so so so dirty, no matter how careful I was I had soot on my clothes every time I stoked the stove. If you see a ton of trees marked with orange paint it could be a cut zone, but sorry, likely not.
Yes. Big difference between one that got singed and one that had some heat applied to it. It is messy.
Doubles and triples laundry too, you can't cook dinner or go to bed with soot all over your clothes. No thank you to wildfire wood.
