I dont think that the xtorque cylinder will work. Find a used oem jug with a Meteor piston and don't look back.
Got this dissected ,and AWP . Poulan 245A ,74CC’s . Interesting Flywheel/starter set up . The starter pulley/ pawls are under the flywheel . Had to change the rope ,so it was interesting to do . Needs a carb rebuild fuel lines ,clutch bell , and a gasket for the reed block . The saw was running poorly/ erratically when it was put u years ago . I found the cork gasket in the reed block not sealing . So, if it isn’t the entire cause , it was contributing . Also have a Poulan 25 Top handle to sort out from the same guy .
I greatly prefer oe saws 365 and 371 372 372xpw to the xt line. Better performance and a much lighter piston. Imho the saws last longer with the lighter pistons I usually convert xt to xp but dj on ope ported a new 2166 into a 2172 that's a very good running saw. huskihl what's your thoughts?
Here's a real 50mm 372 oem kit Just to show the difference. Husqvarna 503939372 Piston Cylinder Assembly Chainsaw Cut-Off-Saw 362 371 372 705788527359 | eBay
On your Xtorq conversions, what carb have you been using? I’ve built up one XT to OE so far... I used the XT carb. OE intake boot (rotated), intake clamp, and plastic flange. I also had to mess with the throttle cable a bit to get it to go WOT. It seems “ok” so far.
Walbro RWJ4 B I’m still figuring what I want to do. Cylinder cleaned up pretty good but no is missing a spot of plating. Below the exhaust. I don’t know if that is too worrisome
Actually the best performance I've got was with A Dolmar 7900 carb poleman modified. The stock xt carb did good too.
Not on my bench but in 98* heat today My niece traded a dodge neon lol For this 12x12 insulated building Lifetite makes them here very sturdy and insect and rodent proof. We put a 3/4 4ft deck around it And eventually vinyl siding and railing Rocky immediately moved in underneath it I'm new this generation of cordless tools But very impressed. I ran over 3lbs of 3 1/2 inch deck screws on one charge of my makita impact And all the decking on one charge of the Milwaukee framing nailer. Beats the days of hand building houses I helped build several. Here's one someone built near me Very nice on a concrete pad and plenty of piers
very faint can I feel it. There are two and I put a lot of effort there. HL had the 372XP Xtorq on sale this weekend for about a hundge. So rather than loose sleep over it, I pulled the trigger.
Nothing major, but I worked on my cousin's Stihl 018 yesterday cuz it quit running on him. He had just had it tuned up at the hardware store where he bought it. Chinese plug and filthy air filter were the culprits... I asked him how they could have "tuned" it up for him without using an air compressor on the air filter... let alone swap it to a new one. They put a new chain on it and sharpened his old chain... I re-sharpened it. The depth guages had never been touched. The clutch bell spur is way beyond needing replaced so a new one is on the way. The bar had never been flipped and had some serious burrs on it, all better now. I took the muffler off and cleaned the screen, no scoring in the jug. He doesn't know much about chainsaws but has used it a lot over the years cleaning up storm damage and downed limbs and such. His son and brothers all use it too. It has been rode hard and put away wet, but really is still in pretty good shape overall. I did take it out and made few cuts with it just to make sure it was running ok and oiling properly. I was impressed with it for being so small and light. I cut through a 10" ash log and was surprised at the performance. I could carry that thing around the woods all day easily it is so light.
Getting closer on the 075. May be able to fire it tomorrow. I need to find a bar and chain. The ones it came with are barely still rusted together.
