15 months ago we moved just down the road to adjacent property.
Long story which involves my parents passing 2 years ago. Adult daughter with 2 kids moving back home and a space issue in old house. 5 years all kids will be out of school and I want out of the snow belt. It will take that time to get things organized to make the move. Not looking forward to the leap but I am looking forward to the landing.

I've got over 30 cords. Last year I have 4 cords and burned through all of it, ableit sparingly. I have electric minisplits and while they work amazing for AC it certainly gets expensive running them in the winter. Plan on using the fireplace a lot more this year, may consider getting an insert next year.

I guess I'm on the 5 year plan at a rate of 5+ cord a year, especially if the kids are going to be home from school (unknown at this moment). I have some pin oak and other red oak that will probably be ready by this winter but will definitely be ready by next winter. I think I got myself covered as well as any of my neighbors that will need wood.

Here's a bunch of pics. 17 stacks, 15 full, 8' diameter, 7' tall, 4 pallets under all of them except one. Got a nice mix of sugar maple, norwegian maple, red maple, cedar, red oak, pin oak, spruce, black birch, beech, cherry, a bit of ash, a tiny bit of cottonwood I found on the side of the road. Also got 2.5 ibc totes full of kindling all hand processed with a hatchet. The wood I split 90% by hand with my X27 fiskars and the super knotty, crotchy, and nasty pieces I did with my Champion 34-ton splitter.

Been making new friends by giving away cut offs/shorties/uglies for people's summer firepit. They are doing me a favor since I have more than enough cutoffs for my own pit.

I got all the wood for....... $0. Making friends with tree service guys and saving them money and saving me money and getting a workout and getting free heat in the winter and getting more power tools (log splitter, wood chipper, chainsaw, etc.)..... Couldn't ask for a better deal. Started collecting in October of 2019 and went a little nuts. Finished processing about a month and a half ago. Must have saved the tree guys $5K+ on dumping fees.

I’m about 6 years ahead and my goal now is to just replace what I burn each year. That said I did wind up cutting a good bit more in March and April since everything was closed. Now have around 25 cords c/s/s.
