Since the day I saw Backwoods Savage talking about getting ahead on the wood inventory, once I was able to have two years up he would talk about three and so on, I think we have 60 or 61 face cord of hardwood up with another 10 planned this fall for a total of 71 c/s/s.

We have six face cord of Pine (shoulder season wood up, 1.5 years seasoned) with another six that has been c/s and in a pile for over a year going up after the painting is finished for a total of 12 face cord.

Backwoods Savage has preached about doing this for years, I'll say thanks Sav, it wasn't always a joy working the hills but like you said, once you're ahead you can do what you want when you want. I can sit back and enjoy the summer because for once in my life, I listened.

Thanks again Backwoods Savage , I hope you're feeling better.

We have a good amount of shorts /nuggets and limb wood for personal use. Working on getting for sale racks full and we did build a big shed for use to use later

I'm still in the beneficial part of the three year plan, thank the Lord.

Many have seen me preach about the benefits of it over the years (Primer on Woodburning by Backwoods Savage) and now once more we're enjoying the fact that we once more have enough wood ready to keep our humble home warm again through the coming winter without asking for more help. Also last winter we put up no wood at all.

I should take an inventory so we know just how much we have and might do this soon.

Please let me add that over the past several years we have had some wonderful help from some fantastic people when we have enjoyed some great times at our GTG parties. The guys and gals have fun running saws and splitters, working, learning, eating drinking (just a little) and just having fun. Judy and I get the benefit of their help and as we age a little, that is a huge help! I'd like to name all who have been here but there have been so many and I'd really feel terrible if I misses even one name. In 4 years we had groups from 30 to over 70!

Yes, cherry really dries out quickly. I'll be adding more of it to my stacks too.

Last summer I hoarded like a maniac. I had Mwalsh9152's splitter in my driveway all summer, and I probably put up 4 cords of oak, black locust, mulberry, and poplar. I also brought home 2 cords of sugar maple, which I split last winter.
So this summer I'm taking it easy. I've brought home about a cord of oak, and two cords of black birch and sugar maple. The rounds are stacked, and I've been splitting a little, but I'm saving most of it for outdoor exercise this winter.
But I'm always looking for an easy scrounge!

I hope you topped off on oil earlier. I bought 750 gallons for 1.39 a gallon (cheap here) in May. Oil and natural gas have to go up in price as the drill rig counts have dropped. That should be about 3 years of oil use for me.

Yes Covid helped get me back on track for wood! The other part of 3 year plan not just dry wood but in case you break your body!

    Thanks again to Backwoods Savage

I'm ahead. I had two of my best scores ever this spring. In fact, I gave 2 truckloads to my parents and one to my neighbors just because I had so much accessible close to home.
Normally, I don't fill my shed until September, leaving the wood out in rows to dry. Right now my shed is nearly full, my usual rows for drying are full, and I built another 1+ cord covered storage area that is also full.

I’m at least 3years.... even with selling a cord to two cord to my neighbor... I just keep chugging away.... some times I’m saturated with wood other times I have to go looking... but once your 3 years ahead.... it makes getting wood less stressful and time consuming.... as others have said... Thanks to Backwoods Savage :handshake:....

    Marshel54 good luck :handshake:...

Didn't you move to your current place about 3/4 years ago?
