Humidity decreased today and we saw about 75 degrees. I mowed the lawn and took the de-thatcher out back and cleaned up the trail. It was littered with leaves and branches. All scratched up now, the skunks and raccoons will love it for grubs.

This would have taken a while raking by hand.

I'll run it further to the sides this fall. Mostly bittersweet and non-native honeysuckle here.

Yah, no kidding. You should see the bittersweet thickets here. We are pretty much chemical-free here. We have wetlands and a lot of wildlife passing through. This is all deer trail area. The poison ivy does need attention.

I really need to get someone in here with equipment to rip the bittersweet up. The roots are shallow. Prior owner had sheep and it was pretty open area.

I have seen hell on earth from herbicides. There has to be another way to get unwanted vegetation in control. I.E goats!

I looked into goat rental...:makeitrain" If they can clean up the area really well, it might be worth it. A little more costly than equipment rental.

Haha. The family wants goats. I don't need another "hobby" like that.

They are really pretty easy to take care of...especially if they are tied out and you just move their tie point and "doghouse" (shelter) around once in a while...pretty much follow you around like dogs if you have them loose. Wouldn't be much trouble at all if you only had them for 3-6 months...unless the kids won't part with them then
I bought one for $1 on a FFA field trip to the local cattle auction back in high school..."he" was a young wether goat and pretty funny to have around...my younger brother inherited him after I moved away from home then...IIRC he lived about 10 years.

I would love to have a goat(s), and chickens. But, not able to water and feed them in the winter and won't dump another chore on WWW. We had llamas for a long time, they were awesome. Times change.

You know, kiddo had a cartoon on tonight and it really creeped me out. I asked her to not watch it again (it is a series). WWW finally got home and she told him I am not being myself. Idk. Sorry kiddo, mommy has the power.

Depends on how you look at cost. I am loosing my friends related to herbicide exposure 50 yrs ago. perhaps the goats would be more a working farm. A healthy working farm.
