This area is turning into "little Phila and NYC" You only see local NJ plates in the fall and winter. Right now there are 6 out of 10 houses/families from out of state. only 4 on this block are local. It's split between NY and PA tags. I'm outta here, just a matter of time and I'm pushing that rock as hard as I can! I "Don't" want to be here in NJ when I hit 60 and that isn't far away!
Hello to everyone on this Car Hoarding thread, but specifically my fellow dump enthusiast Midwinter . I've been meaning to post some of my scrounges from the dump recently, but didn't want to jinx it. This picture was me yesterday..my fourth scrounge from this dump in 2 weeks. Many of you may know that in years past I wanted to throw this dump in the dump, but they cleared all the bagged mulch and refuse out and now you access some of the wood. The guy with the bulldozer even cam over and offered to open up the pile for me with his front loader! This revealed those two logs you see on the ground. They've all been so very nice to me so now you can see why I don't want to Jinx it haha! This has been a blessing for me since I can't really hit the parks anymore now that I'm on the registered "hoarder offenders list". You hear that WeldrDave ? more NJ regulatory nonsense enforced on their tax payers. Don't get me wrong, I still take stuff from the outer edges of parks, but I don't go deep Now on the downside of dump scrounging there's still that smelly muddy juice moat surrounding the pile which can be bigger or smaller depending on rainfall amounts. Also unfortunately my towns main tree product consists of cherry blossoms wood since this is the ornamental tree they plant everywhere. So at least 50 percent of all scores consists of knotty cherry blossom wood (I wish there was more oak but you rarely find that here). Actually I think the wood that winds up here is stuff that firewood companies didn't want. I see oak and maple cut down from our parks all the time and it never winds up here, only this smaller gnarly cherry or hollow logs or even punky wood That punky stuff I leave there and on the ride home I often have to hold my nose as some of the wood has been marinating in the fermented juice, but hey beggars can't be choosers so I'm a happy hoarder! I leave that wood to air out in my yard for a few days before dealing with it. Anyway, I don't know how long this yard will stay this way, but for now it is part of my scrounge route.
Me neither WeldrDave ... not that it seems votes even matter anymore. That's why unless something changes (which is not very likely ) as soon as I can sprout wings from my job I'm going scrounging again..... for a better quality of life somewhere else.
Nice dump folks count for a lot! I would cultivate that relationship as far as I could with cigars and 20's!
Say Midwinter , as I recall, you were having some minor saw problems a while ago, did that get all ironed out?
