Two big blue spruce coming down first week of August. I will really miss them when the snow flies. I always enjoyed looking out the window to see these in the snow.
Yes they are dying and getting thinner all the time. Needles blowing in our pool as well as the neighbors pool.
They have to come down in pieces so I have some climbers hired. Plus it's more than I want to do on my own, especially all the brush. I'll keep the main log.
That's too bad. Was talking to an arborist and he was telling me all pines were dying. Forgot the name of the disease. We have two your size and about 15 other smaller ones on our property. He showed us sings of the disease on all. Soo sad, my wifes favorite trees. I thought she was going to cry when she heard that. Im going to try to trim some of them up because the disease starts on the bottom.
That picture looks refreshing on a hot day like today. If New England could be summed up in a single photo, this would be it. Better have a pool for the summer and better have a stockpile of wood for the winter. We have the best of both worlds!
I have 12 50-60’ blue spruce, all dead. Some kind of blight hit this area about 5 years ago. 80-90% of blue spruce died.
I know how you feel. We have 2 willows in our yard that are coming down this year. One is Huge and dieing and the other is in the way of were we want the driveway.
Plant more in there place. It seems like I'm the only one actually planting trees in my town. Everyone else is just cutting them down. Or having me cut them down.....
Our pines and the neighbor down street have a lot of dead and dying pines. Some line our driveway and will need to come down soon.
Even evergreen shrubs are dying out by us. It happens to one branch at a time while the others still look healthy. I passed one area where every needle bearing thing is dead.
Yeah over the last year or so I have noticed specifically Ponderosa Pines have not been making through our winters. Another thing is that almost all of the Elms have been killed off due to the Dutch Elm Disease. They get it from the Elm bark beatles as you probably know.
We have 1 decent size pine and one huge pine next to it. They're in front of our house, really close. I haven't really worried about them falling on the house and havent had any branches come down. They seem to stand tall during storms, barely moving in the wind. My wife wants to put an addition on that side of the house and if we do, they will have to come down. I figure if we do, I'll get them milled for flooring and take them to my friends kiln.
