...so, they say, the major cause of injuries in older men...
is them thinking they are still young men.

    3+ weeks ago, moving a piece of 4x8 T-1-11 siding, I blew
out the distal bicep tendon in my left elbow. Felt like I stuck
my finger in a electrical socket. MRI says yes....it's blown.
    Meet w/ortho surgeon.....kept hearing this....."at your age".

I hate that...but....that's life. After consult w/3 different docs,
decided that surgery is just as risky as just leaving it. ...so, just
going to leave it. The brachioradialis will take over the heavy lifting now.

As my PC doc said...it's not that you will not be able to do stuff...
you'll just have to find different ways to do them. .....and "at your age"
you will be doing that anyway. Anyone else been through this kind
    of injury?
    Thoughts/comments/suggestions welcome.

Sorry that happened to you. I hope you are not left with any numbness or tingling, and you can compensate for the damage somehow.
I once severed a tendon in my left index finger with some pruning shears. It was a jab in an unlucky place. By the time the cut had healed, and I realized something was wrong, it was too late to reattach. So the finger is a little crooked. But I did that when I was a lot younger.

Did the dr prescribe physical therapy? Is that an option?

    Good Luck!

Tore mine about 10 years ago taking a 400 amp 480V service off a wall in a sawmill. I honestly thought someone lied to me about disconnecting the power. I also thought it was a massive shock.. and considering what I was doing ,, rightly so.
I never had surgery and I’m fine. Just can’t lift as much with my left arm and bicep is half the size of right.

I already had a PT plan when I went to my PC. He said that's exactly what you need to do.
I've had to rehab a lot of body parts, so I'm pretty good at.

Thanks! I have just been doing isometrics until the tendon heals on the forearm.
Got a tennis elbow brace which helps a lot. As I get the full range of motion back,
will start w/the weights. I am thinking that the no surgery choice was correct.

    Thanks! I'm 69 going on 16.

Not that injury but I'm sure many on this forum have had an injury doing something they perhaps shouldn't do...at their age.

Hope that does not bother too much and heals fast.

ACL tear in my left knee at 50. Even at that "young age" I had Docs telling me that we just dont heal up like young uns when we are older.

Yeah, things start taking longer to heal.
I'm thankful that so far I haven't had arthritis problems (that I'm aware of) as my father and both of my younger brothers have had their problems with it.

....so, I am feeling that the decision to forego surgery to fix
the tendon was a good one. I started my own PT as soon as I
realized what was going on. Of course, major outside, heavy physical
projects had to be put on hold. Not really a problem w/temps going into the
high 90*'s everyday. Once again, tying paracord is the perfect therapy.
It's pretty much isometrics for fingers, hands, fore arm, upper arm and chest.
....plus, it's really fun. ...so, at my age, I'm bringing it back, again.

Man that brings back memories. Knew an old cowboy years back and he braided/tied paracord like that for a hat band for my cowboy hat. I think of him often but your images brought his face to my mind instantly. If you don't mind, what do you charge for your bracelet creations?

Hope that, by the time the weather cools, you are well on your way to recovery! Cool paracord braids!

    Drinks and tips!

I sold a few before I retired, but not many.
There is really no market for this. ....or I have not found it.
...so, I give them away to anyone that wants one. Whenever family
comes, I get out the box and let them have at it. It's fun.

If you want something, tell me. I love making this stuff.

Last year at the age of 63 I scored a big white oak, 41” dia and bucked to 23” length. Got them home and noodled into quarters, still weighed near 200 lbs each. Manhandled them into stacks to split this year. A couple weeks after that brilliant move of stacking them I was at the Dr. for yearly wellness physical. Told her everything was good except my back bothered me constantly. Couldn’t sleep, moved wrong it hurt, hurt when I coughed or sneezed. She sends me for MRI, 2 blown discs in lumbar. I see a chiropractor twice a week and usually can function fine, most of the time. Digging post holes last week wasn’t a good idea. What happened to getting smarter as you got older? I must have missed that class.

    What's your drink of choice??

Tip.. Don't give away what you can sell, unless it's an act of kindness.

I'm interested, and it seems others might be.

I'd be interested in a ying/yang offset pair for myself and Chazsbetterhalf

On the style of pic 4

PM me for any needed information.
