In my front yard we had a pretty decent sized Pine tree. One of those ones that every time the wind blows, or a storm comes through it makes you nervous. Being only about 40 feet from the house, I decided to take it down. It didn't have much of a lean either way, so I was a little nervous on which way itd go. I wedged it and thankfully it went where I wanted. These pics are actually a couple months old. I'm finally getting around to posting it. Thinking back, I forget the exact diameter. I could measure it when I get home, I think it was around 21-22". Sure made some nice firewood. I ended up with a couple box fulls and a couple trailer loads. I think total it was about 1.5 full cords I stacked.
Love it! Nice tidy looking process too. I burn a lot of pine where I live (it’s mostly what we have here). Burns great.
Hear, hear. Pine is fine! Nice looking operation and nice drop on the tree. Another worry off your mind!
Must have been a pretty good size tree. 1.5 cords is a lot of wood from one tree. Falling big trees is always a rush. Good job.
I just measured the stump. It was 27”. Bigger than I’d remembered. There were a ton of branches. I think I filled the trailer full once with just small limb wood. Yes, 5 needle bundles. The Red Pine have 3 I think. I don’t think there are any Red Pines on my 21 acres.
Thanks. I hope to extend it one more "cube". That would make it 8' longer and able to hold 8 full cords. Getting PT lumber right now is pretty hard to do though. Maybe in the fall.
Yes sir, I know. Hard to find down here sometimes. We finally built our biggest shed, and I got some of the lumber back in Oct. Wood shed floor
I started out with the wood being stacked in the back yard. The pallets would rot after a year or so, and sometimes the stacks would lean or topple. The woodshed is 24' long and approx 6' deep. The stacks are 6.5' high and the wood is processed to 20" lengths. Last fall I bought twenty 330 gallon IBC totes in hopes they will work well. Ill use the totes one year and the woodshed the next. I also have a couple other "woodsheds" for a third year.
