My wife came a long way, when I first started she thought I lost it. Once she felt the warmth and how it heated our home she was utterly hooked. She started understanding what was involved and worked up to even loading the stove while I was at work. I did just recently got "we have enough wood" but I believe that is more to do with the fact we have talked back and forth about moving so she is concerned with me having to move my supply.
Daddy needs his fix!!! Still laughing about that line. My wife used to question my wood and tractor “obsessions”. She finally broke though.
Now that is what you want to be looking for. To get it, you need to be just as supportive with her interest.
My only limit is that it needs to be neat and orderly. That means that it needs to get put in a wood shed. I've got some of the treated wood I need, but not all of it, and missing some major pieces of lumber. Treated 4x4's and 2x6's primarily I'm needing. Those are both tight on supply right now. Once the shed is completed, I'll have my 3 year plan complete. Until then, I hear about my stacks and piles.
After 25+ something or other ish years of marriage my wife from a practical standpoint realizes that wood hoarding is beyond a doubt the cheapest of all my hoarding avenues.
My Wif loves the firewood heat and willingly helps with all the lighter aspects of firewood hoarding. My problem is a lack of space to stage the wood since we both agree that we need to be able to park our cars and she will remind me when I am approaching the limit. I currently have 3 cords in the wood shed and about 11 cords css outside. We are maxed out now but in a month or so I will be moving 3 cords of outside wood into the empty half of the shed. That means room for 3 more cords outside!
Man I wish we had 11 cords period. We are way behind this year. With his current schedule he has very little time for wood. With this steaming heat forget about it. But today has only been in the 80s so I am getting some mowing done. At least he won't have to worry about that.
My wife doesn't question my wood hoarding. She likes the warmth to much. She has mention how much longer can I keep it up. "We ought to downsize to a ranch style house." Every year and every trip up the stairs makes that idea sound better and better.
Cindy gave up on me years ago. I think she likes it because it keeps me out of the house and her hair.
