Tree climber friend set me up with around 1.5 cord, 50/50 madrone and fir. I’m sharing some pictures for FHC entertainment. Enjoy. This will be my first time splitting madrone and I’m interested to see how it goes.
The perfect mix of firewood in my opinion! Fir starts well and provides good BTUs with minimum ash. The Madrone coals up and lasts a long time with high BTUs and, once again, minimum ash. You may have a little trouble with the 4 way on Madrone crotch pieces but no more than on dense Fir. Madrone splits best when green. Looks like great fun!
Looks great Dstrick ! I hear that madrone is great wood. Everything about your operation there looks neat and organized. Hoard on!
I have family on Pender Island in BC who are burners. How long does it take you to season Madrone from green if split and top covered, two summers or three?
I’m thinking the dead standing splits will be ready this season. The green branches probably this season because they are spread out on a patio slab in full sun. And the green splits could be ready fall 2021. They are on a south facing exterior wall under the eaves. Roasting some maple chunks too.
Let me see. Nice looking grounds. Nice looking wood shed. Nice looking stacks. Nice looking splitter. Great score and great job. You got it all together. Thanks for showing.
