New 4 wheeler for the cabin

Yeah, read my previous post, but to add to it, the mechanic that said he'd fix it, started to, then he says he didn't have time. He charged my mom good money, and didn't fix it. Mom got him to refund the money, but in the end I have a non functional ATV. It should be pretty easy though.

Basically the mechanic said he'd rather work on snowmobiles. Well... Don't say you'll fix something and then don't after you started on it

 

Well, our shop rarely ran across it...except for Honda GL1200 and CX500/650's...changed a PILE of those!

 

Got to the point where I could have the engine out of a CX, rear cover off, stator swapped, reassembled and running in 2.5 hours...on a stock bike, aftermarket accessories always slow you down...

 

Saw where a “mechanic” couldn’t fix it.. figured you could!!!

 

That's the plan... It is a workhorse. Not even a ton of miles on it. Still has the original tires. It wasn't used on pavement much.

So the new Kodiak wouldn't start last week. Something was wrong, but without me up at the cabin, I tried to assess from a couple hundred miles away, and had mom try to help. It's under warranty.

I deduced that it wasn't getting fuel. Mom called the dealer, and a local dealer that didn't even sell her the machine came by and picked it up yesterday. They dropped it off tonight. Fuel pump fuse went, because the fuel pump is under recall. No idea when the new pump will arrive, but it's got a new fuse in it and it runs great now. Hopefully it runs great until the new fuel pump arrives and they can swap it in.

There's no information online about a recall for the fuel pumps on these.

 

Bike recalls don't seem to make it online like cars/trucks do...they probably figure if we voluntarily ride these murdercycles, we don't care bout no stinkin recall...just adds to the danger/excitement level

 

Update, the one dealer, that we didn't even buy it from, was awesome. They picked it up, assessed what was wrong, ordered a new version of the pump, replaced the burnt out EFI fuse, and returned it to her place, all within a day and a half for free. When the new pump arrives, they'll replace it free under warranty. No idea when the new pump will arrive, but he says it's good to go and shouldn't cause an issue again. We'll see. It's not like she's going remote places with it, so even if it blows another fuse, it won't be a big deal.

 

It's great to find dealers like that. Our local OPE dealer is like that. I took our new saw in to check on an oil leak, he ribbed me a bit about getting it from another dealer, but worked on it rigbt then.

 

Haven't heard of any complaints from Mom yet, so the Kodiak must be running good.

I still need to get that winch mounted on it. I'll make time soon enough to head up to the cottage and get that installed.

 

Bet she's still grinning ear to ear. She is lucky to have you to watch out for her.

 

I hope she is. You never know with her. She sure is stubborn though.
