This is what I have. Asked for it at Christmas. Zero issues, from filling the can and transporting ( low odor, 0 spillage), to using it to fill the quad, mower, etc...
Rush Battle I hear you on finding a place to rest while pouring, especially when that puppy's clear full! That's why I'm thinking about getting 1 of the 2 gallon versions! Then when it's empty, I can drain 2 gallons out of the 5 gallon can to fill it back up.
Nowt to do wi fuel cans but if you get a big old bottle and get the liquid spinning it will drain in seconds
What direction? Do we have to spin it in the opposite direction than you? edit: I just noticed you weren't who I thought you were. Was thinking about one of our Aussie friends.
Sorry Warner, I stole your pic, These are the Absolute BEST Gas cans Ever made. (With the Proper stopper, of course) These were produced under the Gott, Rubbermaid, and Essence brand names, I have been using them for over 30 years, might have one or two that old even. I NEVER pass these up at yard sales, if the can itself is good, I bought a large lot of all the pieces off ebay. They were made in 1.5 Gal, 2.5 Gal and 5 Gal, sizes. My Wife even knows to watch for them, about 2 months ago, she saw one on the shoulder of the highway, and couldn't stop in time, went to the next exit, went back and got it it, still in Great shape Yep, She's a KEEPER, she also has her OWN Chainsaw, Enjoys Wood Cutting, Shooting, Camping, Crabbing and Fishing, I'm holding on to that one Doug
All those plastic ones are trash. I know it's not technically "legal" but I use these NATO spec steel cans. $68 each with a flexible spout. Best thing EVER. Never leaks and there's a locking pin to prevent any kind of accidental opening. The flexible hose was key. I bought 4 of them after hurrican Sandy and they arrived 2 days after the hurrican hit NY. I keep 20 gallons in rotation and after a few months if I don't use the gas in my wood splitter, wood chipper, or generator, I fill up my minivan or truck with it and refresh the gas. You can save a few bucks by buying the 4-pack and getting one or two spouts. I have 2 in case I lose one. Jerry Can, 20 Liter, Metal Green, With Flexible Spout by VALPRO - GJC20SPK
I’m sure that those are Nice cans, and in a dedicated carrier, like on the back of a Jeep, they are Great, but top heavy and unstable in the back of the pickup. You can see each of the three different sizes behind my saw, I use the 1.5 Gal for MIXED GAS, the 2.5 Gal for UNmixed Non Ethanol, and the 5 Gal for 92 Octane Auto fuel, but will also use the 5 Gal cans for unmixed non ethanol for the Boat, when I want to take extra fuel for it Those cans are PERFECT for how I use them, and I will Respectfully Disagree with you about them being “Trash “ Doug
Walmart sells replacement nozzle kits, they aren't great but they flow a lot better than whatever came on the safety can I have. I think I've spilled more gas out of a safety EPA gas can than any of the regular old school ones. The nozzles leak, they splash because so much air chugs through them with no vent and they make a mess. Another brilliant government solution.
I have a can just like that and hate it! Very awkward to use. You are right, the little vent hook always slips off the rim of the tank when filling. When I go to disassemble the spout it holds a few tablespoons of gas that does not drain back into the can. I always spill that little bit on myself or some place that shouldn't have gas on it. The can needs a proper vent and articulating spout! I am going to get one of those kits!
