Is it worth it to rebuild one? If I can do it for less than $700 total? That is I have already contacted Woodstock.
Considering the cost of a new Fireview, I would do the rebuild. That is, depending on what needs to be done. Overfires could have warped cast parts, the walls are double soapstone so check inner and outer check for damage (cracks), and the complete gasket set. If you can do it yourself great, if woodstock is doing the work, add $$ for 2 way freight.
If i could ship mine to WS, have it rebuilt and shipped back for $700...I'd let them do it. (A new FV is $2400)
Well, it wasn't mentioned if this is a stove you already own, and looking at $700 to repair it.. or if you found one for say $500 and it would cost $200 to fix it. Or if you found one for say $500 and it would cost $700 to repair it.
Yeah, but you didn't specify if $700 "total" means just for the rebuild cost, or if it includes the stove purchase price too...seems like a no brainer if that includes purchase price...
I will add, the total counts parts, stove and me doing the work. I didn't specify price of stove and/or parts, so total is total...any way you slice it. The guy is back peddling on me now, but he has a second stove I am looking at as well. I was hoping to buy both. We'll see...
